mrsmole's Journal, 11 August 2014

I waited a while to post my weight in the hopes I would have something better to post. Alas, my birthday weight from mid July still lingers. In spite of being good all week with food and hitting the gym 6 days out of 7 for either weights, cardio or both, I'm stable.

Not discouraged, just meh.

Did a fancy scale weight over the weekend and got surprising numbers that show an increase in muscle. I'm glad for that, but at 203 pounds, I really need to see the scale go DOWN. I cannot end up a 203 pound mass of muscle like a freaking Russian weight lifter, but that seems to be the direction I'm headed. I know it's silly to think that after only a few weeks, but I really thought I'd be back to my pre-birthday weight of 199.8 byu now, and it's just so frustrating.

Losing fat and gaining muscle is a good thing, but I'm concerned because for being 5'5", weighing 203 pounds is not a healthy body weight. It's not good for my heart to be hauling this much weight around, and my joints still hurt from the sheer pain of dealing with gravity every time I haul myself out of a chair. I just want 50 more pounds, and I'm willing to wait a year to get there at a pound a week, so I'm even okay if it's slow. Slow is fine. But flat is not. I'm eating less than I'm burning and yet, here we are.

Okay, my vent is over. I get my thyroid results back this week, so we shall see. I'll keep you posted.

Maybe it is time to put the scale away so you can concentrate on what really matters, inches all over. The scale isn't a very good guage when it comes to dieting as weight fluctuates too much. You will get there, but not on your time. Relax and enjoy the ride. Grab onto "Endurance."

I try to not let the scale affect my weight loss. To focus on the clothes. However, I'm too wrapped up in the numbers and want to see results. Silly considering the body is doing the talking. I'm not listening.

It'll come. Think of it as a hiatus. You know what you'd doing. You're just learning patience and getting ready for the next run. We all focus on the scale. I'm up 2 pounds in the last 2 day. It happens to everyone. You have everything in order. Just a matter of time.

What is doing a "fancy scale weight"? Weighing on a different scale than usual or doing something special on your scale?

Pirouettes. That's the gold standard.

More weight in muscle over fat... win.

A fancy scale weight means that I get all the special numbers such as BMI, % fat, % muscle, BMR, body age, etc. I do it once a week. It's just that eating under 1400 calories a day is really making feel like I ought to be LOSING, and it's starting to piss me off that I'm not. I guess what I'm saying is that if I'm not going to lose, then maybe I ought to go on maintenance for 6 months and not lose and not feel deprived and like I'm dieting and not lose weight than to be on an alleged weight loss diet and not be losing weight. Does that make more sense? I mean, I really DO miss that extra 500 calories per day that I'm not getting and if I'm not going to lose it, then I'd really much rather be eating it!

NM, While you were away, I saw 199.8. Then I had a few 2500 calorie days and my glycogen friends and its 4 grams of H2O tag-a-longs shot through the roof. After 3 weeks of penance, I still haven't recovered from that, and it sucks. You'd think that 3 weeks of low calorie eating and gym workouts would have chiseled away at that by now, but apparently not. That' what I'm griping about. CR, it's not about the clothes, it's about taking 3 weeks to undo damage from 3 days of stupidity. This is me regretting what I did and swearing never to do it again!

It would be wonderful if we could rely on the CICO concept. Just doesn't work that way and we do get frustrated. Happens to me every now and then :) But you will lose eventually if you keep under your RDI. It doesn't hurt to go to calculator.net webpage or another site and recalculate your numbers. Perhaps, MIT Carson Chow site with the simulator, one that Draglist uses, might give you motivation and help you update your goals.

There is nothing wrong with glycogen. It's the right kind of weight. :) Then you can kick it up.
