Avoiding all processed foods definitely helps raise awareness of all the junk in the world. The goal is no longer to simply lose weight, but also to live longer and healthier.

Yes sir!!! I have had nothing processed or any fast food for now 7 months and 2 weeks and that was a huge part of my weight loss. So I have to go to the store every few days. Big deal. The 10 minutes it takes to shop is little to pay for results, right?

Thanks all, and I completely agree. It's tough when family and friends don't subscribe to the same goals but I'm sticking to it. Next season I'm hoping to get in early on the produce/farm "mailing" lists so I can have things delivered. Their subscription service fills up fast but I figure it will help perpetuate good choices and good health to have it all delivered right to my door.

I also have a summer/fall CSA (community supported agriculture) delivery each week and it's amazing! The farm gets the money it needs up-front to operate, and I get a huge box of organic veggies on my doorstep each Tuesday and my grocery store bill is cut in half for those 22 weeks! It's a win-win! I love it!

Sweeet2th, thanks so much for the review. I haven't done it in the past although I've always had my eye on it. Unfortunately I've always remembered too late. I'm determined this year next year to make it work.

Ask questions to see if their plans fit your needs. I checked into that this year in my area. You could save $$ by picking the box up, both would have been easy for me. However, both were geared to a family of 4 and did not have other options. For a household of one that was not going to work, farmer's markets and my own little gardens make more sense for me.

Thanks for the tips wholefoodnut. Not having done it I wasn't aware of the options. I'll keep that in mind.

I am a big supporter of Farmer's Markets for sure...better produce and it's significantly cheaper...I went the other day and got gorgeous veggies, pretty much the same amount I would buy at the store minus lettuce, and only spent $13....
