The idea of eating 1000 followed by 1400 isn't working that well so far considering a 3 pound gain overnight, LOL. Must be the salt in the soy sauce from yesterday. I give up trying to figure it out. It is what it is. Back to the yellow stripe of shame. Ah well!

Meanwhile, others on here are doing great and I'm very happy for them.
I think I may try not weighing myself for a week. It's too depressing to see what the random number generator has to say from one day to the next, so I may as well not even look at the damned thing for a while. How could it get any worse?

Sometimes this stuff feels like an allergy test. Trying different things, different mixes of things and finally come up with the solution. Then 4 weeks later your body starts reacting again! I've always been astounded at your constant downward weight daily. Mine daily tends to look like a roller coaster. I keep a little excel doc for daily stuff. Doesn't have all the red and green arrows which seem to make it a bit more palatable.

((hugs))It is miserable when the scale plays games with the mind. And I don't doubt the soy sauce a bit. The sodium in it is worse that a good shake of salt. Some asian dishes just aren't the same without it. Don't be so down in the mouth (giggle), you will get there!

Soya sauce will do it every time. Evil! How's puppy training going?

Given up completely on training this dog. I just keep him tethered to my chair or the bed at all times. He won't pee that way. I walk him 3 times a day and take him outside 7 times a day. He pees constantly outside, but if I let him off the leash for 5 seconds, even after a pee, he pisses all over the house. He's a little retarded. And yes, I tried the crate. Epic fail. So I keep him tethered. Now we're both happy. :)

My dad's dog appears to be house broken. Not too many problems but lately he likes to use the actual bathroom. He manages to pee on the toilet but he is small and only hits the bottom. I think if my dad gets a stool and leaves the lid lifted we may have the answer and a possible youtube moment. I don’t think it’s going to happen but it’s a funny thought. I drink extra water to help flush out sodium if I’ve had too much. All this talk of pee and your yellow stripe. It will turn the next color again soon.

Mrsmole, think of how far you have come. Didn't you just start trying the varying calories? You might give that a couple weeks try and see what happens. Do you do a bit of cardio in the morning? That has seemed to help me, even if I can squeeze in 10 min walking it makes a difference. If I ever get my Boston mix yo pup completely housebroken!! She is pretty good except some nights pees in my dining room, or if she doesn't make it through the day, pees in the bathroom. Bathroom is better, dining room has a wood floor.

I walk 6 days a week for 20 minutes very briskly with the dog right after getting up. I really thought that this would help kick start my metabolism, but so far it hasn't and it's been 3 weeks. I've been varying the calories for about 6 weeks now. I thought it would start working by now.

Weighing yourself only once every two to three weeks is actually quite helpful. Our bodies tend to fluctuate quite a bit so weighing yourself once a week, first thing in the morning is a better gauge. I hope it helps with your motivation! Also, I'm guessing your 1000 and 1400 are cycling calories every day? Try cycling your carbs. As in, on your 1000 day, don't have any carbs. On your 1400, have good carbs (brown rice, quinoa, legumes, whole wheat bread). See if that works. If it does, make sure you weigh yourself after a non-carb day or you'll scare yourself.

Sorry, I was still half asleep this morning and your am walking comment on your journal didn't register.

Yeah, no doubt super frustrating. I would get tired of analyzing every little thing too. I've been having tummy problems and eating a bit higher than my norm for the last few weeks. I've also traveled a bit recently, so I'm going on two weeks of no change. Oh, yeah, and my cholesterol came back 30 points higher than back when I was quite a bit heavier and eating worse. Whatever!

Midgets, I've actually lost 50+ pound eating lots of good carbs, including lots of legumes, veggies, fruits, and little meats. I kept my calorie average at about 1200calories per day. Now going up to 1400 per day I'm still losing but very slowly, very close to my goal. Never scary getting on the scale after carbs. Course many people don't lose well eating the way I do, it has worked for me.
