I hate to record that big gain for the week, but it is after coming home from vacation. I have just over a week till my triathlon so I am in focus mode and know I will get it right back down and hopefully lower too by next week Sat.

We had a great vacation in Colorado visiting my husband's family and had a little family reunion too. Too much cumulative eating too much over the week including fast food for our 18 hour drive both ways caused a gain. The good news is that my exercise was fantastic while we were there. I loved it all! In the 6 days, my exercise inlcuded:
-1 walk
-3 swims in a pool
-1 open water swim in a lake
-1 hr 20 min bike ride- very challenging up hard hills
-1 hike in a canyon
-Several hours of beach volleyball
-3.1 mile run

Last night I hit the gym again and did weights, biked 4 miles and ran 1 mile also. So, I am very pleased with all that. It was inspiring to ride and run looking at the Rocky Mountains ahead! I loved it.

So now I need to focus in my last week ahead here before the tri! I am excited and ready and hoping the humidity won't be terrible next week. It is actually cool right now but could go back to blazing hot in an instant. I also twisted my knee slightly playing volleyball so I am hoping that won't get worse. It's been good enough to run on so far.

I will check in with some journals now- sorry I have been absent. I really value your encouragement so thanks for that!

With your commitment to exercise that little gain will be a distant memory very soon. No worries. Great job keeping active while you were away. It's so difficult to stay on course with eating when we are out of our element and haven't got the control as much as we do at home. I'm feeling like a whimp for not recording my vacay weight gain now. I might work up the courage by Friday! Good luck with your training!

I'll bet some of that gain is from the extra sodium in the fast food - sure to drop off quickly! Wonderful that you got so much exercise in during your trip, and with all that great scenery to look at!

You did a fantastic job exercising while away...and it was varied too! The extra weight will be gone in no time. Thank goodness your knee is okay. Do you take glucosimide & chondrotin? Not sure if it'll help...heard it was for joints. Hubby takes them occasionally after a long/hard run. Wow! How exciting one week until the triatholon? Is this your first? Sorry for not keeping track of your journals. Good luck!!!
