I dont know what is happening, why I am gaining weight. I ran up and down 8 flights of steps yesterday 5 times. I have increased my caloric intake to 1200, but that should not cause me to consistently gain weight unless my metabolism is that screwed up...UGH!

your metabolism may need time to adjust to eating more. It sounds stupid, but you need to eat to lose. You have to make sure you are eating enough. 1200 calories should be the bare minimum. Food is fuel for the body. When you don't eat enough, the boy will store fat to keep energy so you can just function, such as breathing and heart beating and brain activity. DOn't stress over slight weight gain. We all gain here and there depending on the time of the moth, what we have eaten the day before and what time we weigh ourselves. As long as you are losing 1-2 pounds a week than you are on the right track...sometimes it takes a couple days t see those results. Just keep tracking what you eat and you will start to see a difference.

Yes, you need time for your body/metabolism to adjust. If you trained your body to eat very low calorie and then increase it, you will see a gain. You have to retrain your body to use more fuel. Also, sore muscles (from exericise) retain water to help them heal and can show as a temporary gain on the scale. Keep doing what you are doing and it will turn around. You also don't have a lot to lose, so it can take more time and patience.

Because your calories were below 1200 before your metabolism has lowered. My theory is because your body is getting more calories than it's use to it's restocking your gylocgen stores (which is stored using a heck of alot of water!). This will also mean your metabolism is going to rise along with it. If you can bare to, try & eat upto 1400 - 1500 calories for 3 days. This will greatly raise your metabolism & you will find once you go back to down by a 100 calories or so you will start losing again. I've noticed that if I'm plateauing & have a cheat day I start losing again.

Wow, thanks for the feedback...I just noticed your comments. I think you were all right....I was not eating enough for the aggressive workouts I am doing, I am weight lifting a different body part every day and I have been really sore lately...I increased my calories for the last 3 days, continued my work out and surprise...I lost some weight today!
