Home safely. Sometimes we go about our business, have our plans in place, head off for the next stage and we are suddenly reminded of how precarious life is.

We were 300 km into our 400 km trip to the north when we came upon an accident scene. A head-on collision with four fatalities. As I understand it, a brother and two sisters, all elders from a local, small aboriginal community and one person in the other vehile were killed. It will be crushing to them. Extremely sad. It wasn't a particularly difficult road. Likely someone was distracted and crossed the line.

As happens up here because of distances and the isolation, the road was closed pending the arrival of the coroner and an accident documentation team from outside of the are. Road closed for eight hours. We were turned back.

We drove back 100 km to the last large town and found a room for the night. When we got up in the morning, we discovered that the road had been reopened at 5 AM. The accident had happened around 7 PM the previous evening. We got on the road and headed north, arriving at our destination exactly at 10 PM when the class began.

It was an excellent time and I and another woman decided we would go on to the next phase of training, typically six months, to become professional reflexologists. That certification will make me the only professional for 400 km to the north and 600 km to the south.

I'm excited, but a little spooked by all the study that lays ahead.

Lifting day today. I'm looking forward to it. I'll also take some time today to stop and smell the roses, and consider how fortunate each of us is every day simply to be alive.

All the best, my friends. Stick to it. Each day has it's own challenges and rewards.

"I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it." ~ Groucho Marx

You're going to be so awesome with all that training. My best to you in accomplishing your goals. We will always have fears. Surrender to what is, let go of what was, have faith in what will be.

Life is fleeting and the fragility should make us live the best life we can but like many things we take it for granted. So glad you guys made it home safely. Here’s to study time and hopefully not too much stress. I’m off to attempt some push-ups.
