Gain!?! Oh teh noes! The end is nigh! REPENT!

At least I'm not stagnant at 192 anymore. This wasn't exactly the direction I was hoping for, but I saw it coming. When I was sick last week I didn't exercise and I ate a bunch of crappy food. I earned this pound fair and square, though I don't think I'll keep this prize for too long.

I finally got back into some sort of routine Monday. I had my karate class and some new peeps came in to watch/examine/stare during the workout to see if they wanted to join. At the moment I'm half of the students (everyone moved to Illinois), so I hope they join up. I need new people to kick me in the face. I did my first run since being sick yesterday afternoon. 3.5 miles in the OMFG-it's-so-hot-my-shoes-are-melting weather. I could feel my skin baking after the first two miles. And I actually volunteer for this stuff. Hell, I enjoy it.

My brain is tired. I've been crunching numbers for a long, LOOOOOOONG time. At least it feels that way. I decided I'm going to take a break from counting calories. I'm going to be trying some sort of half-assed (-arsed for you Brits) attempt at intuitive eating for the next week and see how it goes. Right now I would like to lose more weight, but it's not the most important diet/fitness goal I have right now. At the moment I'm focused on training for my half marathon. If I keep losing, great. If I don't, I can live with it... for now.

I ordered some new diet/fitness books last night. So soon I'll be reading...
Skinny Bastard - Rory Freedman & Kim Barnouin
Born to Run - Christopher McDougal
The Engine 2 Diet - Rip Esselstyn

I wanted Skinny Bastard and the Engine 2 Diet more for recipe purposes than anything else, but they should be interesting reads.

I want a copy of this to post on my fridge... close to the ice cream. Maybe then I would think twice.

193.0 lb Lost so far: 72.0 lb.    Still to go: 8.0 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

Now that you're back on your feet, I'm sure that prize-pound will be history in no time! Good luck with intuitive eating and your training - wow! a half-marathon! You are awesome! Love the posters. LOL!

It's hard to stay focused on loosing when you're practically at goal. I'm struggling too. Plateau for two months, and I'm not finding the motivation to get back on the loss train. Ugh. The OMFG-it's-so-hot-my-shoes-are-melting weather. Yep. It's like that here too. I think today it's going to be like 110 degree heat index. It's obnoxious, and it's only JUNE! WTF is August going to be like?! You get mad props for running outdoors. You either have huge balls or are just plain crazy. So if you figure out how to start loosing again, let me know. :-p

ah hahahahaha! I loved the pics at the end. I literally laughed out loud. I am glad you are back to good. A+ on the running. I think it's amazing. Let me know how you like those books! I am looking for a "diet" book for my dad. It's been shamelessly hot here, too, in MN. We had a heat index of 100 yesterday. I'm not used to all this humidity! I remember being in Dallas and it was 105 degrees, but it felt NICE. Must be something about the air :)

Starla - My half marathon is in August. It should be nice an toasty by then. It would help if I didn't train after work, but I hate waking up early to work out. Laura - I'm not sure if Skinny Bastard or Engine 2 are great for your dad since they are pushing a vegan agenda, but I'll let you know how they are.

Ahhhhh thanks for the heads up! My dad is a definitely a meat eater. Its hard to find books for him because he doesn't read well. I thought about getting him the "eat this, not that" book, partially because it's mostly pictures. Keep me posted anyway :) I'm soooooooo glad you are BACK and feeling BETTER!!! YAY!

David Zinczenko (Men's Health editor) is a super genius for making those books. That's actually a pretty good idea.

Divided By Zero, if you stop recording calories and entering your weight, please continue to be here. You are an inspiration to so many. Have you ever considered getting a degree in sports medicine or sports psychology? You are such an encouraging coach to people on this site, a born teacher and advisor. I think you'd be an excellent personal trainer. Make no mistake: You are valued!

I don't plan on leaving the site, or stopping the calorie count forever. I just wanted to take a short term break from number crunching. I've never really logged my food/exercise on here, I keep that on paper at home because it's easier for me to track. I just want to see if I can keep losing or even maintain without having to crunch numbers. I've been doing that for about 10 months now, and my brain needs a break. My body on the other hand, will be shown no mercy. Workouts will continue to be as crazy as ever.

Hugs 4 barbell shoulder shrugs. LOL I'm still working on me right now, but I've though a lot about looking into personal training later on. It could be a job I actually *gasp* enjoy.

Glad to hear that you're healthy again! The Skinny Bastard book is an interesting read. It has quite a few tips, is written in an entertaining (if somewhat over-the-top) manner, and has several "lifestyle" recommendations that make sense.

yeah!!! well your doing amazing at working on yourself you need to share the working out love!!! im encouraging you but then when it happens im going to depressed because im tooo far away to reap the benefits *shakes fist*

Hey wintersmith, I actually got the idea to read it because you mentioned it in a forum post. I didn't know it existed before that (though I think it's probably mostly the same as Skinny Bitch).
