Oh my gosh… we got the truck yesterday, I would say Hallelujah, but he can’t go over 55mph for 500 miles, he needs to break it in and bring it back and they adjust everything. He works 45miles away, and taking streets all the way to work in a congested rush hour area is stressful.
I had asked him to please pick up milk after his work yesterday. When he left work last night the truck barely started, the alternator was out and we just bought a new one from them! So this morning we are crawling back to the shop and dropping it off. He never ever gets mad and he was pissed! There were even rags left in the engine! 😠
This is what Al texted me last night…..
Left work late. Stopped at the store and don’t have a mask, can’t go in the store! Shitty day, truck has to go back in the morning. Alternator not charging battery, no dashboard lights, no hazard lights. And I ran a red light and got my picture taken. Sorry, I’m not in the best of moods right now.
Yikes, he never gets mad, ahhhh!
So today we leave the truck off again.
My hubby never ever talks rude to people, but this cost us $7,000!
There may be a mechanic who will almost die,
... He’ll have an auto-body experience!😁

How terrible! I’m so sorry to hear! I can’t say that I blame him for being mad … I would have been livid or at least they would have seen my head spinning as I entered the shop returning the truck. I hope this gets rectified soon! Take care!

do a big loop drive this weekend. we're trying to do an engine reset on one of BF's cars where we go 3 minutes at 45mph, 3 min at 61 and something else to clear a code. best way to do that here is the ocean loop or the desert. since your alternator is an issue, I'd recommend the ocean because I have broken down out by salton sea and it was no fun. good way to get those miles in and my function is to be ballast. entertaining ballast, but ballast.

Horrible on all counts!! Stressed out on each one of them! IMO .. For that kind of money a down payment on a newer or more dependable vehicle. Good luck with this stint in that garage!!

Hate auto mechanics, fought feeling ripped off all my life, until I bought my 1st new car with warranty. Will never buy a used car again. I am so sorry for your really bad day, but that helpless feeling adds to the stress. Hoping everything is fixed and you have 10 super great days to balance it out. 🥰

Wow that is a bad day. Hope it all works out. It’s so hard to find a trustworthy mechanic. Maybe there’s a warranty on the alternator?

Liz, that was going to be towards property taxes, now I need a new plan.🥲 Al is wondering if we should have gotten a new truck, yet we know they are being built shoddily right now, parts are hard to come by and they are Mickey Mousing it.🙃

Javadali you made me laugh!! 😆The guy was so apologetic it calmed Al down. Now they suspect it is the truck’s wiring causing problems, brother!
The commuting is causing us tension, yet in all the years not once have we had an argument serious enough to consider divorce; murder, yes, but divorce, never.😆

Our truck was built before computers and it turns out it’s not the alternator, so they are still diagnosing the problem.
Driving again to work together is so stressful, and I know I am a horrible backseat driver, yet a good wife always forgives her husband when she's wrong. 😊

I get a kick out of the comments on FS and it helps to take my mind off the commute while Al drives me to work. You cracked me up about your camping and the tortillas being made.🤣 Behind in answering those posts. Remember marriages are made in heaven. Then again, so are thunder, lightning, tornadoes, and hail.😆

Kattay that truck has not had any problems in the thirty years we have had it. I knew getting a new engine would be scary. It’s not a good time to buy a new truck, but now my husband is wondering If he should have. 🙃
My problem is sleep and not getting enough, being out by 5:45am is killing me! In fact, I better go get some shut eye now…💤😴 Night and thanks for your concern.🌸

Rannahspirit, we are so old and never owned a new car and have been extremely lucky with all of them. We bought this truck used 30 years ago, it’s about time it needed help. We had a great mechanic and we just loved his shop, but he died and his shop was sold, we could ever could replace him. 🙃
Heads up, I love TikTok and will be looking for you, my app is not working on my phone right now, I will have to get that fixed now for sure. I spend too much time on it, so haven’t worried about it as there is always shorts on YouTube.

The alternator had a warranty and we bought it from them and my hubby was fuming! 😡 But, it turned out it wasn’t that, so they are checking out the whole truck, it’s all free, so they say, we’ll find out. 🙂 Have a great Wednesday as the night is slipping away. 👍🌸
