Adpully's Journal, 29 September 2021

A small loss for the week in line with expectations means that my BMI is now at 24.8 and the NHS calculator robot suggests that I am now at a healthy weight. In that respect I have now met the original aim of my diet. Whilst I still have motivation I have reset my target down a little further this will keep me focused for a little longer.

During this last week I have increased my deficit a bit because I had been 15 days without seeing any weight loss and it was starting to get in my head a little. Because of this increase my averaged daily deficit gone from 350 cals to 500 cals so still quite small in total.

Fitness wise this week has been a good week and yesterday I went swimming again and swam 55 (slow) lengths for the whole hour session. My new chest fitted heart rate monitor has just arrived and after a lot of faffing I managed to pair it to my phone but it doesn't seem to want to connect to my old Garmin sports watch which it should do - Bloody annoying as that was the main reason for buying it. Hopefully today I can go for a run and find out which out of four different HR apps on my phone suits me best. Longer term unless I can find a fix I may end up having to buy a different watch so I can check my chest HR on my wrist as I am running.

In other news I have a really exciting week end coming up I am meeting a group of friends in an annual get together now in it's fourth year. Around 14 of us from all over England will all be staying in an adventure lodge. There will be an excess of food, beer and rubbish talk usually till 4AM in the morning. It was postponed from June this year and the forecast weather looks to be challenging. I will try and do things in moderation but cannot promise anything.

FSers Have a great day

Your weekend sounds as though it will be great fun!! I bet they will quiz you on your new body! Be prepared for someone telling you you are too thin. (I bet someone will be green!!) Also, the answer to all electronic problems is turn it off, leave it five mins, then turn it back on.

With regards to your second paragraph, after 15 days with little to no weight loss, I fear it may be a mistake to double down and further decrease your calories. After being in a deficit for a while, your body decreases your metabolism in an effort to retain and preserve stored energy. Although it seems counter productive, I have found if you increase your calories to a surplus of a few hundred for at least a couple of days, you may gain a very small amount but when you lower your calories back down to a deficit, the fat will come right off plus more as your metabolism has been boosted by the temporary calorie increase. I have gone from around 35% bodyfat to a very lean 8-10% and found this method essential in the later stages of my fat loss journey

From recent pictures that I have seen several look to have added a few stone since we last all met. Even at my heaviest I was still in the middle of the pack weight wise. Except for one guy It's not a very thin group of blokes who will be eating and drinking probably too many calories for the weekend. Whatever the weather is I'm sure It will be a laugh though.

Dubz you may be right thanks for the input - I will be going to a surplus over the weekend for sure so a perfect opportunity to test your theory.
