I've been AWOL. Busy with work. Busy with life. I've had a roller coaster of eating, have avoided the scale for a week, and we've had a little rain, a little snow, and a little sunshine.

Our generator is not doing well, which is not great news. We do have a back up we bought. I hope it works. My wayward stepdaughter is not on our happy list right now. You might recall we have access to her banking account. It was the agreement we made with her when we agreed to co-sign the lease for her apartment. So one morning this week I was checking her account, as I do periodicallly, and saw a deposit (which is quite unusual because she's been cashing checks so we won't know how much money she has). So I clicked on it! Hmmm. A $1234.00 check from the Employment Security Department and a deposit slip with dear daughters signature taking out $1050.00 in cash! So like any good stepmother, I called her father to let him know.

Later that night DH called DD. Asked her about the check because maybe SHE could pay her own rent this month instead of us ( we've paid half of December, February March, and just last week she told me she wouldn't be able to pay April either). DH and I were in bed when she called back so I could her every word she said. Her dad asked about the deposit and the cash back. DD says, "must be a typo" I'll check with the bank tomorrow and get back with you tomorrow night." Now mind you the bank scans the check and deposit slip and I'm looking right at a check addressed to her and a deposit slip she signed. He tells her that. She maintains her story. Unbelievable. Then she wanted to chit chat! I was fuming! She also claims she has received NO unemployment pay because her former employer is contesting it. However, she also has 3 auto deposits from the unemployment office in her account! I don't know if she thinks we are that gullible or just downright stupid! Either way I'm done. We are on the hook for her rent no matter what but we aren't paying for it now. We have to take care of us. What a mess. If we had the $3000 we've spent on her rent and moving expenses we could easily fix our generator. Ugh.

The good news is the lease ends May 31st. So only $950 more dollars to the wayward daughter fund then our soon to be 33 year old daughter sentence will be over. Never, never, never again. It isn't just the money. It's the lying, deceit, callousness, lack of understanding, compassion, appreciations, gratitude, that really stings.

Anyway, enough about that.

DH is back in days and has decided to transfer back to the maintenance department from the engineering department on a permanent basis. The woman who runs the maintenance side is awesome, and the crew too. The engineering department is full of controversy, backbiting, and more (yes mostly men not women). No one else knows yet but they are cutting 2 positions from engineering and maintenance has 2 open positions. They asked DH if he'd consider coming back. That's where he started! Same pay, same job title and he said yes. He's happy about it so I'm happy.

Me? Oh I'm busier than a one-armed paper hanger but doing okay. It helps that DH is doing well. Usually he really struggles this time of year and he doesn't always take these bumps in the road of life smoothly. Had a really bad experience with antidepressants a few years ago and refuses to take them again so I always dread winter in that respect. He's been taking something my side business sells called Confianza (an all natural product) and I'm astounded at how well he is dealing with everything AND he's not all doom and gloom! I'm grateful for these blessings in my life, in the midst of the trials and challenges!

So the plan for today was laundry ( didn't do it last week) and taxes. Change in plans because first we have to figure out our power. Nevertheless, coffee in hand, I will smile and breathe and we will sort it out! Thanks for listening to me tell my tale. I hope you are doing well, can check as long as my iPad still has juice!

Wow you have every right to be fuming. I am so sorry you have to go through all of that. Being a step-mother is a very challenging thing and it is alot of patience and hard work. I am very proud of you for hanging in there. The only thing I am worried about is You. I hope you are taking care of yourself too in all of this. You have a great attitude, and I can't wait to read more about your positive achievements that are to come. I really hope you get the generator fixed soon. Have a great weekend

Ohhhhh those kids. Infuriating and so hard to say no to when they are begging help. I am thrilled for your husband. It's so hard to be in a partnership when the partner is dragging. Excited about his job change too. Hang in there carol- spring is coming.

Wow - wow - wow. I'm stuck for words. Rare for me too. I can just say I know what you're experiencing because I've been there and hopefully this will truly be the last month for the finances and she grows up before the relationship is beyond salvage,

Glad the rent fiasco is almost over. As you say lesson learned. It's too bad that she is such a sleaze about the whole thing, leaves a bad taste in your mouth. You and DH sound real good at the moment, pleased to hear it. And you are down in weight too. Bonus :)
