The day started off so well and then the evening hits and a friend comes over and IHOP here we go. Not a good decision to go there really late at night. At least I got some exercise by walking there. I weighed myself yesterday and actually got down to 244 so losing only .2 pounds does not make me happy but...today is another day.
244.6 lb Lost so far: 24.4 lb.    Still to go: 79.6 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Diet Calendar Entry for 23 March 2014:
606 kcal Fat: 1.62g | Prot: 35.57g | Carb: 121.55g.   Lunch: Tangerine, Great Value 100% Whole Wheat Bread, Great Value Great Northern Beans. Snacks/Other: Navels Oranges. more...
losing 1.4 lb a week

We have to learn how to live while losing, and sometimes that means going out to eat at unplanned times and places. One meal will not make or break you unless you let it :-). Just a tip, when im not familiar with nutrition info for a particular restaurant I try to make low carb choices. I hope you had a great time with your friend!

I eat out all the time but I ALWAYS look up the calories in food on my cell phone before it goes in the mouth. Here is a example of what I would have eat at IHOP. 1 scrabbled egg 130 calories, Grits 80 calories / with Sugar free syrup 15 calories, Seasoned mixed fruit 60 calories and a glass of unsweet Ice tea with Stevia 0 Calories. See I ate there and ONLY consumed 280 Calories of food and still eat. You make the choose hat goes in your mouth.

Both Yolanda and Clearwater make valid points. You've got to live a little and that living takes planning so you are not out-of-control. When I IHOP (seldom), I go for wholewheat or buckwheat pancakes and eat half the serving. Stick with real maple syrup or bring your own pure unrefined coconut oil to liven things up. Get the fruit cup and skip the sausages, bacon, potatoes, etc. Also, there is a chicken sausage patty there that's pretty darn tasty. Get your treat without irrevocable damage to your food plan. Egg white omelets with spinach, tomato and cheese are pretty tasty too!! And drink 8oz water or hot tea first to take the hunger edge off.

I appreciate the advice, it makes perfect sense. I'm a real positive person so any negative emotion doesn't last long. It sounds like you are all positive as well. I'm think about this quote: LIFE ALWAYS OFFERS YOU A SECOND CHANCE...IT'S CALLED TOMORROW.

Truly! One of my favorite quote comes from Scarlett O'Hara "Gone With the Wind" when she says, "I'll think about it tomorrow...after all, tomorrow is another day." Plus, I've had to learn a few tricks to keep me encouraged. I have my husband and sons. They support, but their needs are not mine so sometimes it's quite lonesome because I have to be SO committed. I want IHOP when they do so I have to find work-arounds!

LuC2, it's good that you have this forum that will support you. It reminds me of the joke...Where did the girl with one leg work...IHOP! Ok, bad joke but I thought it was funny the first time I heard it.

I am very grateful to have this forum! There is a ton of support (no pun intended) in this Anonymity-ville called FatSecret. It's really no secret how to shed the weight and it's a burden lifted to have so many people pursuing the same goal and withheld judgment. To add clarity to my earlier statement, "Tomorrow" is not a release into procrastination, but rather a renewed call to action. The bible speaks in Lamentations 3:22-23, that God's love and mercies are new every morning. And so I accept His love, mercy (withheld judgment), and grace (unmerited favor) by learning to love myself, forgiving myself and committing to begin again. Sometimes today can be disappointing and feel pretty hopeless. But I always muster the courage to believe that if I can see tomorrow, it can be a better day. Hope everyone has a good night and an even better tomorrow!
