I have been working too much and they keep asking me to work more, but I'm standing my ground. They wanted me to pull another all nighter tonight and I said, "Are you kidding me? Sure, I'll work 12 hours and then miraculously drive to my other assignment 1.25 hours away and get there on time and able to work that shift!" NOT.GOING.TO.HAPPEN.

I volunteered to be on call yesterday as a consolation prize. By the day after that request, they asked me to work two 4-hour shifts NEXT weekend. I told them I would, but that they really need to stop asking me to work extra hours, as I work five days a week already and that's enough! So, starting tomorrow, I have 12 straight days of work. The only good thing? On Friday, April 4th, when I get off work I am driving to the beach with my wonderful husband of 25 years and we are CELEBRATING!! We are staying at the beach for two days and I intend to walk, shop, eat (moderately), talk, laugh, you name it!

Yesterday I worked out, got ready for a party I was invited to (choir friend turning 75), and headed out with work uniform in tow in case I got called. Did a couple errands, then dropped by my daughter's to give her some moral support (she was having a rough day).

I ate a Chobani low fat yogurt and some hummus/healthy quinoa chips while at her house. When I got to the party, they had just light refreshments and a decadent homemade chocolate cherry cake with fudge frosting. I'm sure it would have tasted amazing and people were going back for seconds (there were lots of jokes about how the cake just "jumped" onto their plate, lol) but I held fast.

When the party drew to a close and I had been standing at the front door for 15 minutes chatting with the birthday girl and another good friend, I ended up suggesting a healthy Thai restaurant just down the hill from the birthday girl's house.

My friend said yes and we had a simple meal and chatted for another hour. I headed home, feeling good about my choices for the day. I didn't get called into work and I slept great last night.

I hopped out of bed, excited to weigh myself and was SOOOO STINKIN' HAPPY when it registered 1.5 pounds lost. The only thing I really did any differently this week compared to last week was eating a little over my average on two days and then going a couple hundred under on another day to balance things out and shake things up. I think I exercised about the same, maybe even a little less.

I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing and I will get where I want to be by the holidays (when I lose this first 20, I'm going for another 15-20). Enjoy the rest of your weekend, folks!

Congratulations in advance on your 25 years of marriage! Have fun at the beach! :) Ahah It's good cakes don't really jump onto our plates or we really would be doomed :) Also congratulations on your weight loss! Maybe it has to do with rising your metabolism on those two extra days but I really don't have a clue. Just a hunch heheh. Sometimes, besides the exercise, we inadvertently do more physical activities (like walking, standing etc). You are definitely on the good path! :)

Work is like that - goes from feast to famine (and then back to feast). Hold your ground and do what is right for you.

Awesome about the cake. After I eat something I "think" I had to have or die, the thrill is gone and depending on how much I ate which is usually a lot I feel guilty. Its an endless cycle for me. There is no dessert I'm going to allow to do that to me anymore. Glad you were able to stand your ground. It will give you strength to stand your ground at work!
