Adpully's Journal, 17 August 2021

Yesterday was the second days effort at kettlebells and I substituted the 12Kg KB for the 6Kg one on the final reps - that was absolutely right on my limit and I certainly couldn't manage 12Kg for all the routine. I definitely feel a bit of a weakling here as on the beginners video Joe Wicks states that the minimum start KG weight for this is 12Kg for a man and also "8Kg minimum for a girl" I feel I am months away from being able doing the routine throughout with 12Kg but when using 6Kg it is quite easy. That said I am quite enjoying doing this new exercise thing. Being able to follow along the KB and warmup routines on a video is really useful and something that was not easy for me to organise in the past when my PC office in my old house had no floor space. I think that really will help me maintain some enthusiasm for home gym exercises for longer than two weeks. We shall see.

I may have treat myself to a 8Kg KB

My plan today complete day three of the KB workouts plus hopefully a 11 mile relaxed speed walk and targeting an 800 calorie deficit. I have just done the sums, If I make my exercises then I will have the luxury of knowing that I can eat 2200 cals of food today -That's 500 calories more than my norm this month. My wife who loves cooking has said she is sure that she can come up with something to help cover that.

Stay safe and try and keep on track

Going for the 8kg kettlebell is a wise move. After a while you will notice they became almost like a feather. You will be surprised how quick you go from “it’s too heavy” to “this is getting too easy for me”. Sainsbury’s has the 8kg one for less than 15pounds. That’s where I got mine during a food shopping trip. Good luck 👍
