cocobutt's Journal, 20 February 2011

Went on a whirlwind overnight trip with Mr Coco to meet his clients at the Mobile Mardi Gras parade. It was fun. They had a lot of fattening foods there, but I ate 2 chicken fingers, 2 tortilla chips and 1 lg cookie, with 2 small mixed drinks. Not too bad. Saturday, we had breakfast at one of Mobile's landmark breakfast spots, and I ordered the Monte Cristo breakfast sandwich. It was sourdough egg toast with ham and cheese. Really delicious, but no doubt loaded with calories. I shared some with Mr Coco and didn't eat the hash browns. Our only other meal Saturday was at a seafood restaurant after we drove down to the beach. Had the broiled seafood platter, no fries. But I did have buttermilk chess pie for dessert.

So, I indulged on our trip, but I still feel like I can resume my routine healthy eating without any problem. Do I want donuts today? No way. We had oatmeal and fruit for breakfast. I'm having green tea now and looking forward to a long afternoon walk.

For dinner today we'll have some fresh shrimp stirfry. We picked up some beautiful jumbo shrimp direct from the shrimper's store on the bay yesterday. I was happy to see that even in February -- post-BP oil disaster, there were a lot of visitors on the beach. And the sand looked just as white and beautiful as ever. You have to wonder about the chemicals you can't see though... the dispersants in the water. We noticed some guys in haz-mat gear with sacks patrolling the beaches still. Surreal.

I can totally relate to the post-restaurant-cleanse urges. Whenever I have events or occasions that I work in I always feel natural cravings the day after for clean, healthy food & it sounds like you do too! I take it as a sign that I've been successful at retraining my body as far as what it needs to stay nourished yet continue dropping that fat. Enjoy your shrimp!

Hi Kat, yes, I actually look forward to eating fresh veggies and lean food too, after I veer off-course. That's a switch for me! Those shrimp were some of the best I've ever had. We'll have more today (Mon) for supper. Grilled this time. mmm
