Debbie Cousins's Journal, 24 May 2021

Day 22. Up a half pound this morning. I don't get it. According to the FS Exercise section, I should be burning over 2,400 calories a day and all that energy has to come from my "on board" fuel stores (i.e., my fat). At that rate, I should be losing at LEAST a half pound a day. I'm actually burning MORE than that, because I've been DOING things that also burn calories, whereas before, I was almost completely sedentary, rarely leaving my recliner.

Today, we'll FINALLY be doing that brick-cutting job. I will expend a lot of energy lugging the 16-pound bricks to and from the truck where they'll be cut by my husband, and then lugging them back to the pool to put in place. Then, I'll be putting rocks in the tiny spaces where the bricks don't completely touch the pool.

If we finish that early, I might also pull some more weeds and gather up leaves from that drainage ditch I mentioned the other day. My daughter just texted me (at 3:30 in the morning - but I had woken up at 2) to see if I'd keep my grandson today. I said yes, so there will be a lot of activity with him. The hard part will be having him NOT come into the pool until I get it vacuumed. If he's in there, it stirs up the water and I can't easily vacuum up the stuff on the bottom.

One of my green pole beans plants has a runner that is now as tall as I am. Going to be a good crop year, I suspect. It amazes me how the runners can "find" the poles that I put in the pots. It's like they can "see" or "feel" which direction to go to find the pole! Quite fascinating!

OK, that's all from the Cousins household this morning. I'm praying I get a 1 pound weight loss tomorrow to make up for today's slight gain. Again, amazingly NOT discouraged by the gain - Thanks, God!

Water. It can be perplexing when fasting for sure. You're due for a whoosh shortly. Check out Lyle McDonald's "Of Whooshes and Squishy Fat" for the closest thing to a rational answer I have found. Let's go! #stillgrindtime #stayhungry #inspiring

Thanks, @jimmiepop - I read the article. I've always wondered about the "whooshes" people have talked about. @Anna Bear54, @nonotofat, and @desert petunia - thank you all for the encouragement. I sincerely appreciate the support. @hebrews1036, so sorry to hear that you had such a bad fall when you were fasting. For the first time in 22 days, yesterday, I got very weak in the morning (when I was carrying the 16-lb bricks, and bending over to try to fit them in their assigned places. My arms and legs felt like lead, and I was afraid I was going to pass out. That's the ONLY time in the now 23 days that I've had any sort of weakness or side effects from the fasting. I just took it easy for a couple of hours, got up slowly from sitting position, and the little episode was gone within a couple of hours. Back to feeling completely fine now.
