morganstuart's Journal, 08 May 2021

I had a heart to heart conversation with myself last night. Its not very often I do that. I ended up looking in my mirror disgusted at what I saw. I tell myself all the time if things would have turned out different for me in the past. If Is would've worked on myself before J got to way over 300lbs. So I basically told myself that I was going to be vegan. I am still doing the fasting too. I hate looking the way I do and I realized I needed to take better care of my body. So my goal from now on is to eat the vegan lifestyle. Its going to be tough, but to be honest, I kinda had gotten sick of meat. Now I just like my veggies, rice, beans and fruits. I don't know what it is about that I like now. I'm not crazy over meats like I used to be. The only meats I was eating was chicken and fish mainly. Once in a while I had a burger. I think I am ready to leave it behind now.

If it is baked the healthy way i see no reason to stop eating fish. I think that it is the best protein source one can have. Also i have met a few persons that are vegan but have a very high BMI. You should still take care of the caloric balance. I live on healthy cooked legumes, vegetables, fruits and fish but i am getting fatter and fatter because i allow myself continuous caloric surpluses.

Any lifestyle is hard to change Not look at yourself in the mirror and hate you Everybody is the work in progress You can do this with some self love

Pick something and stick with it for eight weeks. You didn’t gain your weight overnight, it came gradually. Just make sure you’re getting enough nutrients in there.

Agree with Katsolo. No reason not to do a vegan diet but it will also have to be calorie-restricted if your desired goal is fat loss and you'll have to be mindful of food combinations to get complete protein sources.

Be sure to get enough B12 if you're going Vegan. Sprinkling nutritional yeast on your food will help.

Also, just want to say to accept your body just as it is right now. Have patience, and faith in the process. It does take time, so it's best if you don't go to extremes in dieting or exercising. I wouldn't exercise more than 1 hour and 15 mins per day. But even that much can feel too difficult. I believe if you exercise 30 mins per day, 5-6 days a week and no less than 3 days a week it's beneficial. Also don't cut calories too low or you'll feel its too restrictive and want to quit. Making choices you can live with is key to long term success. But you have to love yourself just as you are right now and keep going. You will get there!!!!

My suggestion is to just make sure to track your meals here, whatever plan you decide on. I find it’s very easy to eat something and then realize later in the day (or a day or two later) that I forgot to enter it. Good thing you can enter info even afterward. I think you mentioned something the other day about buying a food scale so that will help too. Hope the new job is going well!

If you crave meat, your body might need nutrients it can provide, don’t ignore it, if that happens 😉

I support you whatever you decide, I was vegan for seven years but am more "flexitarian" now. Good luck in your journey

There's nothing wrong with going vegan but it may require more effort than simply restricting calories and maintaining acceptable nutrition. I was a veterinarian for about 10 years and personally knew some morbidly obese veterinarians. My biggest challenge during those days was getting enough protein, but it can be done. Good luck!!!

I like how you had a heart to heart. You might want to include pasture raised eggs to get the protein. Vegan if not done well can be very unhealthy.

I've been vegan for about 5 years and the weight didn't come off until I started listening to a vegan nutritionist. Its also not hard to get the protein if you're willing to invest in good vegan protein powders. You got this!

It is really about the calories you eat being LESS than the calories you burn off exercising so there is a deficit. IF you follow that plan, you will lose no matter your food choices. Best of luck!

Hey love absolutely working on myself as well. I'm over 300 and almost out of the 300's. I want you to know that you are beautiful just the way you are and the road to success is hard but Worth it. I take this journey with you! One day at a time, make better choices than you made the day before. I'll keep checking in, you got this! 😘😘😘

I think the hardest part of the journey is figuring out what is and is not sustainable in the long run. I started pretty close to 300 lbs and have tried ALL of the different ways but no matter what/how I eat it comes down to the calories and eating in a deficit. Some days I eat hardly any carbs, some days all I eat is carbs. Some days I don't eat any meat, some days that's all I eat...Some days I eat over, some under but average out in a deficit. My wish for you is that you find an enjoyable and fulfilling way 💓

You've got this girl! Put your mind to it. It's all mind over matter. Your mind over the matter you are putting in your mouth! 🤣 Everybody is different, so you've got to find what works for you and that you can sustain for the long run. In the end, what everybody has been saying is fact. Calories in has to be less than calories out. You will lose it if you maintain that! We're all here rooting for you!

My son is the most handsome guy, he could have been an actor. Girls swoon over him, he doesn’t take notice, thank goodness. Yet, he covers all the mirrors with brown shopping bags. He can’t stand himself and believes he is ugly. So strange, it is all from the point of view you have about yourself. You are great! We all enjoy you, so like my son you’re viewing yourself incorrectly. Make sure up or down that you get a good base with liking yourself. In doing that you’ll become stronger and powerful in whatever direction you go. Plus, everyone cares about you here and wants you to get enough protein if you go the vegan route, so read up on it. You’ll immune system needs to stay strong. Blessings!👏👏👍

You can get everything you need from a vegan diet! I’m about a month in. Just be sure to take a B12 supplement. If you need any help, I’m right here!

Let do this!
