Ruhu's Journal, 15 January 2014

Up early after not much sleep -- too excited, a bit anxious & of course the never-ending packing list running through my mind, but I'll grab a nap along the way. So, I'll go to an early spin class, then back to the final packing & on my way I'll go. Going "home"… the range of emotions will certain be there, but emotional eating is not invited or welcome!

So, I'll start my day, the best way possible, in prayer… a prayer that means more than ever as I'm brought face-to-face with the disease slowly taking my Mom away from me --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And, I'll pray, breathe, journal, log & express my way on this one (traveling) day and each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion. I'm so very grateful to have each of you along for the ride! Your words of encouragement, support & love, truly mean so much. I'm also grateful for my family (some of whom I'll be seeing after several months apart), my IRL friends (especially the 2 close girlfriends I'll see again in Cincy), having the health and wealth to make this trip and enjoy this life I love and the new tools to deal with the emotions that will arise while I'm there. xoxox
123.5 lb Lost so far: 4.5 lb.    Still to go: 0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Going 'home' always carries so much baggage. Good luck, hope your bag of tricks is also packed and that you sail through this trip like the FS warrior that you are. :)

Have a safe trip. You are in my Prayers. Hope that the trip turns out better than you anticipate--filled with some nice times with Mom, relaxing time with friends and peaceful. If you feel like you're going to stress eat--grab the good low cal yogurts that taste like cake, have some veggies ready, some rice cakes--or if you really need something, get the snacks where they are 100 calories a bag. Big Hugz.
