John10251's Journal, 03 May 2021

I had a doctor appointment today. All went well, and he said my numbers look good. He always questions me about my activity. I told him that I miss going to the gym. Since I'm fully vaccinated and have been for a month, he gave me the green light to return, HALLELUJAH! My old Planet Fitness location closed during the shutdown, so I'm considering joining a Crunch gym. Yesterday I ate under goal, exceeded my protein goal and met all activity goals. 1113kcak deficit // BF unchanged // Sleep Goal met

Good job at the doctor's office and being able to go back to the gym. I had just joined a gym about a month before the pandemic hit and am not thinking of going back anytime soon. The sleep goal sounds interesting. How do you manage it? I have suffered from insomnia since I first retired.

@ Fritzy, insomnia seems to be more common these days, especially with us senior citizens. I think it may be because we carry around so many memories. I, too, suffer from insomnia too often, and I have been trying to improve my sleep habits. That's why I set a sleep goal and use my Fitbit to measure it. Most doctors agree that most people benefit from at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night. When bedtime comes around I try to stop thinking. When I'm watching TV I try to look at light-hearted entertaining shows to relax or turn on music. I find that a hot shower helps a lot, and I'm guilty of using sleep aids with a glass of wine from time to time. I do feel that it is worth the effort to try to get more sleep. I know I feel better on days that I do sleep well. My sleep goal is 7 hours a night and I meet it 3 or 4 days a week. I urge you to keep trying. I hope this helps...
