WOW impressive Rob! Are you following low carb diet? I took a peak and it appears that way to me. (I am as well)

Thanks, GTM!!! Yes, kind of. I really am not following any specific thing, per se. Like my profile says... I've been through this so many times, in so many different ways (I think so many of us have), that we all have a pretty solid understanding of what we need to do. But, I guess to sum it up, I'm mostly aiming for at least 70 or 80g of protein a day, but trying to get to around 100g on a good day, and keep the calories low. Usually that's working out on the best days to be about 50% protein, 25% each of fat and carbs. It has been working well for me so far... so I can't complain. :D

Technically, my protein target right now is 88g. By my calculations, yours should be about 72g.

So glad I saw this today! I had to stop doing low carb and am just watching my calories. You just made me realize that I have been so focused on the calories that I had forgotten what I had learned about too many simple carbs. Looking back on my calendar, I can see that most days my carbs have been way out of proportion and my protein has been almost minimal. This is one of the reasons why I love this site:) I will be making necessary adjustments immediately. Thanks Rob (and got the munchies). You help even when you don't know it! LOL

How are you guys planning on "handling" the holidays? So far its been relatively easy for me but now with upcoming holiday baking, family dinners I am getting worried....Do you cheat for one day, allow a few bites or stick to your guns!?

Thanksgiving Day will be my day off. If I can get that far. Will go back on Friday then hopefully keep clean until Christmas. This coming from a baker who in the next several weeks will make pies, cookies and fruit cake. Fingers crossed. Especially when I do the chocolate chip cookies.

I unfortunately(for my diet) have TWO Thanksgiving dinners to attend over that Thursday and Friday. I am hoping that I can still keep my calories down those two days. Maybe not at my normal limit, but not too crazy. I am going to try and avoid the pitfalls, but if I find myself wavering, I will keep it to a bite or two. Hopefully we can get through next week relatively unscathed.

Re: Thanksgiving feasts and sweet indulgences...if you are doing low carbs...you can still do it without blowing it. Instead of mashed potatoes, use cauliflower as a substitute. Turkey is turkey...just make an 'au jus' gravy instead of using cornstarch or thickeners. Green beans...no worries. Check out this site on FB: Peace, Love, and Low Carbs This girl has created an e-book and hardback book specifically for Low Carbbing. She also posts recipes for free...so...check it out for ideas to keep you on track!!

Thanks, Buffy and everyone! Great ideas, Ali. For me, I'm probably not going to worry about it too much. I'll just keep portions small... very small, and hope it all comes out in the mix. If I go a little overboard, I'm not going to stress about it. Stressing about these things was always what killed me before. Now that I've stopped stressing, things are working so much better. That doesn't mean that I don't still obsess about things, of course... but, pick and choose your battles. Right?
