Katsolo's Journal, 27 January 2021

Just keeping things as normal as possible today and using work to distract myself and not obsess. Left a couple voice messages and texts, but suspect they took his phone away so he'll stop working. Still need prayers. Update: Oh, thank God, he just texted me.

Long walk last night, ate chicken and waffles for dinner because I didn't feel like eating veggies by the time I got home, but I'd eaten plenty already during the day. I did make another spaghetti squash casserole and added ground turkey to up the protein. Found a great recipe for 50 calorie hot chocolate on Emma's Goodie's channel last night, that's less than my watery envelopes and fewer calories and I'd be getting verifiable milk vs. whatever is in the mystery envelopes.

Got up early again because why not? It's 43 outside, multiple layers. I did learn that two layers of pants while walking is too much. Was super hot towards the end. Was as close to how I feel when cross country skiing as it gets here. Cold, sweaty and hot and tired all at the same time! That said, being outside at night in "winter" is so calming and peaceful. I love it.

and on we go.

I don't really know what's going on, Kat, but I sense problems in your environment and I read you worried. I hope everything gets better soon. That walk in the still, cold early morning sounds very relaxing. If I didn't like sleeping so much, I would copy you! ;-D

Same as Eva. I feel like I read the middle of something going on but don’t know the first part. Whatever it is, prayers & good thoughts! ❤️

BF is in the hospital w/acute vertigo. First attack like this in the middle of the day with no warning. There is a no visitor policy in place right now due to COVID and he's been sleeping while it passes, so no phone or text as often as I'd like. It will be fine, but I'd like him to be released, but it's severe enough that it needs to be monitored until it resolves. Then, they'll need to do diagnosis and treatment. And, of course, he is a man of few words on stuff like this which makes it even harder. His kids are in the same spot as me.

Oh, Kat! I’m sorry that he’s going through this and you can’t be there for him like you want to because of the restrictions. Keeping you and BF in my prsyers🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Vertigo is so distressing! I was stuck in my bed for a week due to vertigo, many years ago. I couldn't move my head an inch because the room seemed to spin around me. The most usual reasons for vertigo are innocuous (though annoying, so don't worry (or not too much!) Sadly, you can not be with him, making it more difficult for all of you, but I am sure he’ll be fine. Sending hugs and good vibes

Thanks, Eva, that's good to know. It's tough to for me to imagine a big strong guy taken down so hard by something in his ears. He did text that he doesn't like the feeling of talking on the phone, so that movement is probably part of what's going on.

Kat, sorry to hear about your BF. Glad he's finally texted you. I live with Meniere's daily. It is an inner-ear inflammation that causes vertigo, tinnitus, and loss of balance. It's a rare disease, aren't I lucky? *sarcastic smirk*. As I said to one doctor, it's like having the after affects of a wild drinking binge without the fun of the night of drinking! Hubby has had a few vertigo episodes, usually after having a large sodium intake. Hope they find whatever it was that triggered it, stress maybe? ((HUGS))

Finally got to talk on the phone. Next step is to teach him FaceTime. Things are better but not resolved. lchfjo, I had to look up Meniere's, it doesn't sound like a lot of fun. I have no idea what's going on as far as diagnosis or treatment so far. I've had chronic ear infections off and on all my life. I can't imagine having to deal with that on an amplified basis with no breaks ever.

Was he stressed, Kat? As Ichfjo suggested, it is a common cause of vertigo. It was stress what caused mine, through contractures in the muscles around the cervical area.

There’s a lot of stress to go around right now. That said, he lives in somewhat of a powderkeg environment all the time. We’ll need to talk about it tomorrow.

Have the BF talk to the doctor about benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and a procedure that has been very successful in treating it. Called Ellen Maneuver. I am going to a screen shot of an article about this that you/he might want to read. This is not something out of the Enquirer magazine. It is a real treat ment for the condition he may be diagnosed with.

That is suppose to say Epley maneuver

Hugs and prayers sent to you Kat. Didn't know all this was going on. 💜💜💜💜

Thanks, Kenna. I'm effectively locked out at the moment, but the BPPV acronym did come up, so can assume they're considering that. He also saw an ENT, so it sounds like they're engaging the right specialists. Oddly enough, there is an instance of cervical dystonia in his immediate family, so I'm going to tell him to mention that, although it could also be an infection, still don't know root cause. Chris, dude, news flash, I'm betting you have some cervical bits and pieces somewhere in your body, you just need to figure out where they are. That, with stress, could definitely exacerbate things. I have zero control, a little bit of influence, but not much, and I just want him better. Really, my friends, I thank you all. I don't normally share at this level, and I appreciate the thoughts and information. I'm feeling better about things, but it's still scary.

I’m glad Kat, I suspected that asa possible diagnosis might come up. I have seen this maneuver used successfully on several people with success.
