Yucky day at work Friday. Not only did I not get my ugrade a requested, I got a lower one. So, I was angry and in shock on Friday. My boss told me to appeal it right away - she was very suprised too. The good news is I did not eat my feelings! LOL Cleaned the basement fridaya and the rest of the house on Sunday. My parents are coming for dinner tonight. It is a thank you for buying us new carpet after Conan destroyed the other ones. No longer taking the sleeping pill every day. I am doing better each day! Except, yesterday I tried to smell the paw print the vet took. Broke my heart a little but E was there and I recovered fast. I don't know what I was thinking. It was NOT a scratch and sniff. One day at a time. How I miss him....:-(

What??? How could they give a lower grade than what you currently work? Totally stupid. Conan is doing well on the Rainbow Bridge and will be there when you arrive...

Awww so sorry - it really sucks when you get screwed over at work. Appealing stuff, just sounds like such a headache (hubby had some of this earlier in the year). Goodl uck!!! And nice job not eating your emotions. One day at a time is right. Sometimes you'll have a bunch of great days and then BAM a setback and a completely awful day. Thinking of you!!

They gave me lower then what I requested. I am a pay grade 15 right now, I requested a 19, and I got 16. The thing that get me is the man who interviewed me said I do way more then a 20. That is a direct quote he said to my boss. He must have gotten overridden by the committee who never met me. What sucks is that everyone else who went for an upgrade got what they requested or got HIGHER than what they requested. One woman was only an employee for 1.5 years, & she got 4 pay grades higher then what she asked for. I have been with the state for 10 years. This upgrade was supposed to take us out of brokedom. & I deserve it. I am really good at my job. The problem is they go by the job description, and I kind of do my own thing since I am so good at excel. I am hard to classify, especially if you can't see what I do. The state of RI based their entire overtime database on my work. MY work! Does that sound like a pay grade 15 to you?!?! I think not! I went to their meetings to check their data and tell them what was missing. I was their first step in creating their database and it is still not as good as mine! Their words, my bosses words...not mine. GRRRRRRR

Thankful I don't work for a system in which I'm graded. I'm sure you are very frustrated over not being recognized and compensated for your contribution. It is so aggravating and it seems like the people who least deserve it get recognized and paid. So sorry hope the appeal goes well. Good job on not eating those feelings. It's so hard to loose a furry friend, time does help. Hang in there!

Working in State government is definately full of baloney when it comes to raises and promotions. It is all about the politics. Sad. I know.
