Who watches the Watchmen... apparently about $55 Million in tickets worth of people. I was lucky enough to have an IMAX screen at my local theater to watch it on... awesome. I was only halfway done with the book when I saw the movie, so I still have to keep reading to see what all was changed.

I was hoping to record 207 for my weight today. That's what I weighed on Sunday morning. I stuck to my calories yesterday, so I'm not too sure what the 2 lbs. is. Oh well. If it comes off quick enough I'll record it in a day or two instead of waiting until next Monday.

I have officially completed week one as the karate kid. Hmmm... maybe the karate dude. Yeah, that sounds better. I was kind of surprised that even at the slow pace I'm learning I was still sweating... mostly from trying to keep the right postures. Must... improve... balance (*falls over*).

Ways to annoy people...
Follow a few paces behind someone, spraying everything they touch with Lysol.
Sing the Batman theme incessantly.
Specify that your drive-through order is "to go."
In the memo field of all your checks, write "for sensual massage." (my brother actually did that to me... and he has Mr. Potato Head checks... I don't think the bank was amused)
Finish all your sentences with the words "in accordance with the prophecy."
Adjust the tint on your TV so that all the people are green, and insist to others that you "like it that way."
Staple papers in the middle of the page.
ONLY TYPE IN UPPERCASE.
only type in lowercase.
dont use any punctuation either
Repeat everything someone says, as a question.
As much as possible, skip rather than walk.
Deliberately hum songs that will remain lodged in co-workers brains, such as "Feliz Navidad", the Archies "Sugar" or the Mr. Rogers theme song.
Lie obviously about trivial things such as the time of day.
Sit in your front yard pointing a hair dryer at passing cars to see if they slow down.
Ask the waitress for an extra seat for your "imaginary friend."
Construct elaborate "crop circles" in your front lawn.

Watchmen was amazing! I loved it. I hope they put out the Director's Cut in theatres later this summer. I should have watched it on the IMAX screen here... Boo. We all went to the midnight showing. There were people dressed as Rorschach and Nite Owl. It was great. I was very impressed with how well the movie followed the book. Most parts it was almost word for word. :) Ok. Done geeking out.

I read this morning that the director's cut is supposed to be 3 and a half hours long. I haven't read it all yet. I've read up until ((POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT!!)) Laurie puts on Nite Owl's goggles. The parts of the movie I had read about were pretty much word for word. I wonder what all the extra content is? I heard that the ending was changed, so hopefully I'll finish the book soon and see for myself.

Oooh, you're getting to the bow-chicka-bow-wow. Lol. Am I a huge nerd for saying that was probably my favorite sex scene in a movie ever? Lol. I would sit 3 1/2 hrs for a director's cut. There are a few scenes left out, and I think the director's cut would actually have the Black Freighter comic put in too. I just read a review saying that about 25% of the people in the theatre walked out. Wanna know why? ....They didn't get the movie and/or it made them uncomfortable. Lame. People are so dumb.

Oh and the ending IS different. I much prefer the ending in the book. I'm willing to bet money you will too. Lol.

I only read about 1/3 of the manga and thought the movie was excellent as well. If I would have seen that it was on IMAX, I would have gone for it. You continue to do excellent work!

Continuing the nerdiness... I don't know if it was advertised when you went, but at the theater I was at they had a preview for a Black Freighter/Under the Hood animated movie that was coming out later this month. I just looked it up again to see the release date, and one site mentioned that there may be a super-awesome-directors cut with the Black Freighter/Under the Hood stuff spliced in. Hmmm... maybe that's what the director's cut material is?

Yeah I think that's what it is. I can't wait. Although, I wonder if they will tie in how the Black Freighter story is symbolic in relation to the story of the Watchmen... I mean... Some people can pick it up by reading it... But it would be hard to incorporate into a movie, and even if it was, half of the viewers wouldn't pick up on it...

My friend who read it all before we went to see Watchmen said that they stuck to it all very closely except for the (spoiler alert) giant squid or something. I don't go to midnight showings in our town any more because one of the reasons to go to the midnight showing is that there aren't (well, shouldn't be) any small kids. I think people need to read up on the movies they bring their gradeschool kids to. I thought the movie was very good. I have a friend who didn't like it but I just think she didn't know what she was getting herself into because when I explained some things she appreciated it more. I knew enough about it ahead of time that I liked it.

w00t! I finally finished reading it last night.

So did you prefer the book ending or the movie ending?!

Both, although I think the book ending is much more interesting. ((SPOILERZ!!)) I can definitely see why Snyder changed the super-squid to a Manhattan-bomb for general movie audiences. After all, the whole set-up was that these heroes were really just regular folks, and with the exception of Jon it was more based in reality than other comic heroes. I think the super-squid would have caused a big "WTF?" moment for people that didn't read the book first (majority of people seeing it). It's hard to say which is better since they had the same end effect, but overall I liked the book better because there was so much more that you just can't squeeze into a 3 hour movie. Now I want to watch the 'Tales of the Black Freighter', but it doesn't come out for a few more weeks.

I agree. There is a special place in my heart for the giant squid though! I can't wait to see Tales of the Black Freighter either.

I have now dubbed the squid thing (and I don't know why I didn't realize this earlier)... Cthulhu.

Cthulhu? I must be missing something... or it's too early for me to think... haha.
