59Carol's Journal, 26 December 2020

First of all, and most importantly, I had a lovely Christmas with my daughter's family and my father-in-law. The government indicated that two singletons can join one family for one visit over the holidays. We took great advantage arriving at 9 am and leaving around 10 pm! We opened gifts with the family including the grandkids, played games and ate - a lot!

I haven't eaten these types of foods in a very long time - there was chocolate, meat, cheese, heavy sauces and more! I was a bit concerned that my belly might not like what my eyes were loving. This morning I am eager to eat as I have been as my belly wasn't super pleased. And no wonder as I ate nearly double what I normally eat in a day in calories plus the food was so rich! The result? I gained 3.8 pounds in a 24 hour period! My my my. I haven't done that in awhile.

Today is the day of reckoning. I will admit that it is highly tempting to record my yesterday morning weight and not today's however then I end up playing catch up. So I am biting the bullet, owning yesterday's choices and recording the gain. The toughest part of all is that I spent two days in the 170s but now I am back in the 180s. The plan is not for long.

My fellows who have been working on my renos gifted me this past Monday with one days free labour for my Christmas gift from them. I am so darn lucky to have them. They do amazing work and they do it with love and care in their hearts. When I was profusely thanking them, one fellow as he was heading downstairs says over his shoulder, "You know, Carol, that we will always look after you" and they do. Last spring when my hot water heater broke down they were here same day tinkering with it, then making time to install the new one and finally came 2-3 times to make sure it was functioning properly. I can count on the two of them. They are both friends of my children as well as my husband and I and have known our family for most of their lives.

The renos have been looking amazing however they are taking a Christmas break and will be back at it this coming Monday. In the meantime, I will be shuffling around some more boxes in the next two days in preparation for their return.
