I take a water pill every other day, prescribed by my doctor, and if i miss that pill,my body feels it very much! I use to take a water pill over the counter, called aqua-ban, and it did work

my prescription of water pills will run out soon and i dont really want to visit the doctor just to get it renewed if i can just buy something over the counter that will work just as good...

The water pills you get from the doctor are better for you, than the over the counter, plus, I think they are stronger. I have to take mine for blood pressure. What does your doctor have you on them for?

Good Morning Mike....You may want to consider getting the "water" pills from the doctor....just to make sure your health is being monitored and your prescription plan should pay for the majority of the cost. When my blood pressure was extremely high, I retained alot of fluid in my ankles, knees and actually all over, so my doctor had me on three diuretics to help flush the fluid. I couldn't believe what a difference that made. Through my diet and exercise, I am currently down to just 1 pill a day and it is only half the strength it was before - working towards zero meds! Just my two cents worth...Exercise is a great way to reduce blood pressure too, and you are the king!

I'd like to huddle inside today, too, but Lee wants to go walk in the snow! Brr! Aren't there some foods that are natural diuretics, too? I think I remember reading that beets are one... time to google it! Have a great day, twin!

hey twin!!!...beer would be a natural diuretic...but i no longer drink any of that kind of stuff...lol...when i was put on the water pills i really think it was just cause doctor was tryin to reduce the amount of water i had in my body with no exercise at the time as i dont take meds for anything...less i have to...thats why i was just gonna get em over the counter an use that hour sittin in the doctors office on some other kind of activity...if you kno what i mean about sittin an waitin in a doctors office...

Mike, vitamin B-6 is a diuretic too. I took that when I was pregnant, because I didn't want to take the medicine. I almost forgot about that. As long as you eat healthy and get enough of the other b vitamins it's healthy and yes...it does work.

I did not know that Vitamin B 6 is a diuretic! Wow! I admit that I "self medicated" with a diuretic a long time ago when I was prescribed a medication that made me retain water. The trouble arrived when I stopped taking it. The effects were not pleasant. It took a long time to get my body regulated again. My personal opinion is that one should not take a water pill unless it is specifically prescribed by a doctor. Just my 2 cents.
