59Carol's Journal, 14 November 2020

Not thrilled to post a weight gain this week of 1.8 pounds. I do feel somewhat ripped off as my calories per day are definitely in 'the zone'. I am actually down 30 calories per day from last week when I lost 2.2 pounds.

The only explanation I have is that I fell on the ice on my porch on Tuesday. Ended up being a sprained knee. Doesn't hurt as much as I expected but definitely restricted movement and that means lots of sitting/laying down for the last few days. I have watched the weight increase each day starting on Wednesday morning. I am thinking between the lack of movement and the shock I gave to my body that it is taking awhile to settle out. My plan is to just keep doing what I am doing and trust it will all come out in the wash!

Yesterday I was able to do a few limited morning exercises and I plan to do the same this morning. I am monitoring my knee carefully as I don't want my impatience to damage it.

My basement renos are happening!! It is so darn exciting. In the last three days, the guys have framed in three bedrooms and the bathroom. One bedroom has its closet framed in. We are looking at getting the heating ducts and electrical into the walls and then drywall, flooring etc. are next on the list!! My basement has been pretty substandard as a living space so making it into a comfortable living space is a giant leg up.

If all goes according to plan I will have rooms for my family to stay in during Christmas -- if Christmas is actually going to happen in the same way as we are used to celebrating it. Everything is definitely up in the air as more COVID cases are reported in our small rural area. We are certainly not immune.

Thank you Zoebony. I went for a walk yesterday, did some exercises and stood on it too long yesterday. Overdid it and now have a whole pile of bruising. I will keep working on taking it easy.

Walking is good... walk, walk, walk is what my surgeon said after my knee replacement but don't overdo it! Baby steps

Some weight gain may be due to swelling around your knee. Take care. 💛

Thanks lady. I see it as a tricky place - use my knee but not too much. I thought I was being cognizant on Saturday however I went too far. Really pulled back yesterday. Swollen and achy this morning. Another easy day ahead. I do believe in walking so I will do that today. My sister suggested the same, Shir about the swelling being a weight gain culprit. Should I be icing it a week later?

When I was going for physical therapy they iced it after each session. I was going for several months. As long as there is swelling you should ice. Icing can't hurt.

Thanks Zoebony I will start some icing again. It is definitely still swollen.
