So, I'm eating right and I'm swimming almost every day and I'm gaining weight. Somehow, I'd like to be able to explain to my body that this is NOT positive reinforcement.

You are so doing the right things sometimes it’s water or swelling etc. I’m still struggling with water but I’m getting better. They say 1 ounce of water for each pound. I’m drinking a gallon most days but I’m supposed to drink a gallon and a half for my weight lol I make it maybe 3 to 4 days a week this last month. But you are definitely doing good so keep doing it! Swimming is so good for you. Low impact and works entire body. Tomorrow is a new day. Keep moving forward ! 🌻😊🌈🎉🌻👍

I always gain when I regularly exercise at first. Muscle weighs more. It may just be water retention. I have a terrible time with chronic inflammation. You are doing the right things. Keep doing you!

Didn't you take some time off? maybe lean mass regain from the exercise or some muscle soreness/inflamation.

I know the feeling...

muscle weighs more than fat but keep in mind that your weight will fluctuate 4-7 lbs daily ...

I hear ya. However, I made a list of all of the non-scale victories, and I had 10! Also, I’ve decided to be consistent no matter what, because weight loss is consistency over time.

Daphne that's brilliant. I always say I have to outstubborn my body. Lol.

This exact same thing is happening to me. working out hard, keeping calories down. Barely weight loss after 4 weeks. Guess all we can do is keep going.

I'd like to hear that conversation. You are probably just building muscles.

Thank you 1.0, Diablo, Gothe, Holly, Daphne, Daisy and Carol. So I checked and in September I averaged 1647 calories per day, a total of 1410 calories over my RDI and I swam 20 days or 20 hours and I gained about one pound. I was losing a little until the end of the month when I started gaining. I definitely have sore muscles, so I'm going to assume that's the reason and just keep on chugging along. I really appreciate all your support and encouragement. 💛💚💜

Diablo, I did take a break, but I never stopped logging my meals. Anyway, that was earlier in the month and wouldn't explain why the sudden gains the last few days. Thanks for the feedback, I always appreciate your comments.

Muscle is denser than fat. It takes up less space in your body. A pound is a pound no matter if it's fat or muscle. It's like the riddle, what weighs more a ton of feathers or a ton of bricks? Most people answer bricks. They are equal. But you need WAY more feathers to make a ton. So it is with fat, you need more fat to make a pound of it. As long as you keep making healthy choices with your eating habits and working out you're going in the right direction. The scale will catch up. And you could be building muscle, which is why I tell my friends to take their measurements, to pay attention to how their clothes are fitting, to notice if their endurance is building, all those non-scale victories. The NSV are the things that help keep us going when we don't see the scale going in the direction we want. 💜💜💜

No doubt, you probably are gaining muscle and toning vs fat. Of course, water weight plays a role. You are doing great.

Maybe this is your bod... saying, 'give a minute here, I'm trying to adjust to this new normal and to figure out what to do next' ;) all for one, one for all!

Swimming sounds like a great workout. Sadly, It's to cold here in Chicago. I bet you are toning up and building muscle. 🖤

These gains are not relevant when you’re working hard Shirfleur 🥰 You’re building muscle my friend 💪💛💜💚
