I just had my 28th Birthday on the 12th and I want to be healthier. I am so tired of my back hurting and my knees hurting. I am too young to hurt so much!! :)

We Leo(s) can do it!! I just turned 43 on the 3rd of August :) You are already half way there - knowing it needs to be done and working on a plan.

Thanks. Are you trying anything specific? I am a Type 1 diabetic - so I have to watch carb counts. Also, just trying to move my butt & rest of body more. This past years has been rough, I lost my husband of 15 years and my brother. It has made me realize that you have to live and enjoy life to the fullest. Happy Friday

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It is never easy to lose anyone that you love. *hugs* When my father passed away I felt the same way; life is short and unpredictable. I want to enjoy it while I can! Yes, I am watching carbs too. When I was in high school I lost about 50lbs doing a strict atkin's diet. However, now that I have had quite a few nutrition classes I know that that isn't healthy on your body in the long run. I still don't eat many carbs but I don't do the low 12 carbs a day like in high school. We got rid of junk food in the house and bread. We also do not eat pastas. It is mostly meat and veggies. If we want dessert we eat fruit like strawberries or melons. My favorite is just a plain ol steak and salad. I'm pretty simple. What are some of your favorites?

Thanks. My one of my biggest problems is a am a Carb lover!!! I have accepted this, so I am trying to work on controling a little better. I try to do different activities with friends (they have been a great help) And living in sunny south floida helps also as most of the time the weater is on my side. My mini goals are to mark down everything I eat and more a little each day. Happy Monday.

Happy Monday to you too!! That is a good plan. Sometimes I find it hard to plan activities with friends and family. I guess in my case, they all love to eat, like me. It seems to always be things like "wanna go out to eat?", "let's get ice cream", or "come over and we can bake" sort of thing. I have been trying to change that too. I have planned family hikes rather than picnics and swimming rather than lunch. My family is Italian so the pasta is always showing her pretty face. I think you have it right with the controlling portions thing. It seems like when you deprive yourself of something that you "crave" you just want it more and when you do finally eat it, you eat a ton of it. Over the weekend we ordered chinese food. I skipped on the rice, but I ordered Mongolian beef. There wasn't too much of a sweet sauce like most chinese food and there were a lot of good veggies. I only have one serving and then put the rest in the fridge. And it hasn't even crossed my mind again. I think making wiser choices and having smaller portions is a great key!! I hope you have a wonderful day! :)
