59Carol's Journal, 04 July 2020

This is feeling totally unfair -- I gained 0.2 pounds. I averaged 40 calories below my window last week and ever so slightly under my average calories of the week before. I had one day slightly above my window and then 3 in the window and 3 below the window. However my weight averaged exactly what it ended up being this morning. I had a significant loss last week of 2.6 pounds so maybe it is just a week of settling in. I do know the numbers work in the end and that if I preserve they will pay off. I have to admit I was sorely tempted to log in yesterday's weight which was 1.2 pounds less. But to be honest that was a definite 'outlier' weight in the week. Maybe it is a harbinger of things to come?? I hope so! In the meantime, I have resisted playing the 'could have beens' game and logged in honestly!

I worked a hard 2 hours in the trees in front of my yard cutting down volunteer carriganas and dragging out deadfall. I had hoped to haul away the large brush pile but I didn't beat the rains. It has been raining pretty much 5 days since.

I went for my first massage since COVID and that was wonderful. I also finally got my eyebrows tinted. I have always had dark eyebrows that I rather liked. When I had chemo 5 years ago I lost all my body hair including my eyebrows. My head hair grew in well but my brows and lashes are sparse. My brows came in almost with no colour at all. I found it disconcerting to see these barely there eye brows in the mirror. It just didn't look like me. So I got them tinted this week. I was concerned they would be too dark and not look natural. The young girl did an excellent job. I now see the 'right' brows in the mirror! This is way more gratifying than it probably should be.

Those little things are so important to our well being when everything else is being our control.

You do realize that .2 pounds is just about 3 oz—this is not a wrist slitting event. Your body has a plan of its own. One day means nothing. Consider your trend

Katsolo— there are some things about weight control that are also not fully under your control. How hot it is, the ambient humidity, hormones, your state of hydration, how you slept last night, the types of exercise and activities that you participated in yesterday. These are all contributing factors to this minutiae of weight gain and loss.

Maybe you are right that it has been a stablizing week after your big drop last week. You've got this sorted for sure! And I'm with katsolo for sure. The little things in life you can control help so much... Like beautiful brows! Enjoy your coming week.

Kenna, i was talking about getting her brows done. These days, you have to take what little wins you can. 😉

All of you are so wonderful! I do appreciate that the weight gain was small and that the weight we record is just a snapshot in time. It is affected by all the things Kenna mentioned. I just hate to see it go up at all. I have been tweaking my plan by adding in more protein within the calorie limit and will see how I fare with that. The brows are giving me daily pleasure!
