59Carol's Journal, 27 June 2020

Finally, a big step downwards! 2.6 pounds. That is pretty substantial. It is not shocking to have lost since I was under my window for 6 days and in the window for one. I averaged 120 calories below the bottom end of my window this week. I don't think I have ever had that pattern before. Interestingly I did not intentionally plan to be this low. Each day things came up where I wasn't eating all of my planned snacks that add up to 190 calories per day. Otherwise I ate what I planned. Next week I plan to stay more in the window however it is good to know that this is a way to get on track again. This month was one of two weeks of gaining and two weeks of losing so the net for the month is down 2.4 pounds. Good thing this week was a substantial loss! The big picture is that I have averaged a 0.8-pound loss per week for the past 96 weeks.

I do deserve some gold stars due to the busyness of this week. Dave and I met a man who became a good friend shortly after we married so about 43 years ago. He is an artist who sandblasts. I asked him to make my husband's headstone. He was willing but wanted the art. I approached a young lady who went to school with my daughter and works on my son's magazine who is a graphic artist. Dave and I knew her and her family well. She worked with us and created the vision that our family wanted. That is the art that we gave to our sandblaster friend. On Father's Day he called me to say the stone was done and he was heading up here (650-mile trip one way) to deliver it. He picked up a friend of my husband's from when Dave was in Junior High School on the way. The two fellows arrived on Tuesday and left on Thursday. There was a family barbecue after we laid the stone on Wednesday. We stayed up late and played Euchre with the grandkids, my daughter and the two fellows into the wee hours. And I still ended up under my calorie window all three of those days!

And the lesser gold star... I managed to get the camp cot back into its bag with no missing pieces and nothing sticking out!

Thank you so much. The artist captured his stance to a T. Everyone who knows him just takes one look and says, "That's Dave!"

🌟 ⭐✨🌟 Here are some gold stars! What a great drop! The stone is so special! How wonderful that it can be so meaningful. Did your husband wear a buckskin coat like that? So cool! I am glad you could be surrounded by family at this time. I am sure it was a mix of many emotions... And very draining week. Sounds like you did so well. ❤️

Hi Melissa- Dave has an old worn and very well used buckskin jacket that he wore everywhere. There was even a bullet hole on the pocket! It was handmade by someone- no idea who. An iconic picture at the North Country Fair was Dave walking barefoot around the grounds doing his checks in his buckskin jacket and felt hat! I kept the jacket. One of those things I am not ready to part with. It fits me...maybe I will wear it. I wear his sweater that we purchased in Ireland all the time. It feels like a hug.
