Atkins offers the best healthy dietary lifestyle you could follow and do it successfully. I was addicted to carbs and it took me three failed efforts to come off them and follow the low-carb plan. Now I know why it works. I see donuts, ice cream, Cheetos, pizza, chocolate, donuts, and while my eyes might trigger the memory of their texture, flavors, and taste, my appetite says, "Meh, don't care. Not interested." That is only possible when you give up your drug of choice. I enjoy my carbs in foods like onions and tomatoes, and the Atkins snack bars are unbeatably delicious and low-carb. I've lost nine pounds now without trying and have some ways to go, and it's happened a lot slower than the Induction Phase suggests, but who cares. It's not about how fast I lose the fat that I put on by bingeing on candy, chips, donuts, chocolate, and other crap. No, it's about saving myself from the roller coaster ride of bingeing and purging and guilt-tripping and the incessant craving for sugar. I'm a drug-addict in recovery and I feel free.
