SherryeB's Journal, 19 May 2020

I thought I might be up this morning. I ate as much as I wanted yesterday, but apparently that was OK. I made bone in chicken thighs for dinner...browned them in a little olive oil, onion and garlic then added a can of diced tomatoes and a can of black beans, some sriracha and finished them off in the oven...oven cooked corn on the cob on the side. I served up one serving each then Hubby and I split a thigh and the rest of the bean & tomato combo. My day had kinda gone in a direction I wanted comfort food. Only Jello with some whipped cream for dessert, so that was low cal.

I've been trying to figure out how I can get to my Grandaughter's Graduation the end of the month. The schools have decided to hold Graduation with family attendees & social distancing. I think my sisters & I have finally determined we're going to drive. We can't fly out of Atlanta to Dallas without having to quarantine the whole time we'd be there. We've been hoping that would change. We'll decide by the weekend what our final plans should be.

Yesterday was a rainy day all day. I had to pick up a prescription, so needed to go out....planned to do some other errands but in the end came home without doing them all. It was raining so hard we had to pull off the road so gave it up.

Today is sunny again. There is rain in the forecast but its nice now. Looks like we'll be able to get our afternoon walk in.

I hope you can make it to the graduation. We think there is basically no hope my high school grad will get to "walk." the ceremony was postponed, but it is scheduled just a couple days after the governor might open things up for large groups to gather. So many things are changed in the world right now.

Mellisa, the kids & parents really fought for them to be able to walk. There will be many adaptations to make it safer...much less contact, like no shaking hands, wearing masks until they walk across the stage, etc. I think the fact that their graduation was not planned til the end of May was in their favor. The kids in Georgia, where I live are having to do other things to commemorate their graduation. They would have walked a couple of weeks earlier & their ceremonies aren't happening 😕.

I'm feeling confident I'll be able to be there. My daughter lost her Dad about the same time last year, so I'm wanting to be there for her as well.

Oh, it sounds like it is really important on many levels for you to be there. I'm sure they are so thankful for you. My son isn't so disappointed at the loss of the ceremony, but he is hoping they can still have the big party planned for afterward. A bus has been rented that will take the class (only about 37) to different activities and events all night long. We will see.
