That's so awesome--congratulations! 10 pounds lost per month is a great pace. I need to lose about 40-50 pounds in order to be within healthy range but it seems daunting. What was the most helpful action you took to lose the weight?

@Natalie3467. Thank you! For me it was three main things. First was figuring out how many calories that I needed to eat to lose weight and not be hungry so I wouldn't snack and overeat. I used some online calorie calculators and then adjusted until I found what worked best for me. Next I researched diet by body type (ecto, endo, and meso). I originally tried a low carb diet and felt miserable and hungry all the time. Once I researched about diet for body type, I adjusted to a low fat/ high protein diet and not restricting carbs as much. I'm still eating the same amount of calories but it's night and day with how I feel now which makes it easier to stay under my daily calorie limit. And the third thing is cardio. I do cardio for 30 minutes three times a week. Anymore than that and I find I need more calories and overeat. I also cut out fast food, soda and junk food.

You're welcome! And thank you for taking the time to explain what worked for you. I always like to hear that from people who have achieved success with losing weight in a healthy way. Each thing you did sounds helpful and I may try out the ones I haven't yet, or didn't give enough of a chance. Recently I learned about/did some research on body types and found it so interesting. It seems that I'm a hybrid between 2 of the types, which is apparently common. And I agree, low carb diets can make people feel hungry and miserable! I'm all about high protein and healthy fat in moderation.

Cutting out fast food, soda, and junk food must've been a game changer! Good job on all your hard work and I hope you're able to enjoy your weight loss results each day! God bless!

I think I'm a hybrid as well. I most closely resemble an endo-ectomorph hybrid. I was always really lanky as a kid and struggled to put on muscle.l and only starting getting overweight because of poor diet. I never really watched what I ate and still was eating like a frat boy at 40. I was drinking 3 or 4 cans of Mountain Dew a day and earing stuff like Taco Bell, pizza, ice cream, etc. I was consuming about 600 calories a day just from Mountain Dew. It's amazing I wasn't fatter. What I've learned is that being primarily an ectromorph, my body handles carbs very well and thankfully most of the foods I was eating were carb dominant so I was only gaining 5 lbs a year. When I started changing my lifestyle, I basically tried going with a diet that was pretty close to keto and that was horrible. I've done so much better after adjusting my macros to suit my body type.

Yeah it seems like a lot of people are hybrids. For most of my life I was one type but then once I hit a certain age, I may have started to become another body type as well. I'll have to do more research on it. You're blessed to be able to handle carbs well with the ectomorph side...carbs are my favorite but they cause problems for me!
