Nikitawells's Journal, 11 October 2010

I went to my gym today. They tested my fat percentage. 26%. I talked to one of the trainers and we talked about my goals and decided that I could reach them being around 130. So that's my new goal. I have mixed emotions about my weight right now. Very hard to explain because I havent figured out whats going on with me. My spirit is just not settled. If that makes since. We will see what all transpire this week. I'm just gonna pray on it. Be blessed!

What's wrong? I don't understand, how are you feeling about your weight right now? :(

I don't have a push. No more drive...I'm just going though the motions. I been eating junk. Lays chips? That's not me. What happened to me eating for health...motivation is just gone. Even after reading my list of reasons to lose weight. I don't know what's going on with me. Help?

Your motivation should come from your improved health and those that depend on you...family, as that's whats truely important! Congratulations on all you have accomplished so far! Don't beat yourself up for eating some chips... you know they are junk... so get your fill of them, realize that that's not the best you can do and move on. I've been on maintenance for 11 months now... you never get rid of the craving from certain foods, but like I said... you come to realize that they have become the exception and not the rule. Good luck!

26% is perfectly healthy for an adult woman. Just make sure you listen to YOU and do what YOU want. Don't reach for a number just because of a number, and also don't stop at a number just because of the number. Use the mirror, the way your clothes fit, the way you feel as the judges of progress too. There's always some emotional ups and downs, just keep plugging. YOU are worth it. YOU are important. Get your health back to the top of your priority list. Is there something emotional happening in another part of your life? Everything is intertwined. Just remember to be kind to yourself and take it one day at a time. You can do it.

How tall are you? And when you met with the trainer and set the goal of 130, what were the reasons for that? To be leaner, to have more muscle/definition? If the goal was YOUR choice, then make sure you know the reasoning for it. For a woman to get below 20% BF if difficult, and even moreso to maintain unless you are very active and an athlete! You may be eating more junk because you're burned out. Take some time off from the weight loss goal (even if it's just a week!) and try maintenance. Refocus, and you will get back to eating right and taking care of yourself.

I'm 5 foot 4. I just want to thank everyone for the encouraging words. This really helped me. And Matt55, you are so right when you said my family depends on me. That hit home hard! I know if I'm not healthy, my husband and kids would just go with the flow of eating junk day in and out. I really didn't want to be 130. I think that's too small for me. I like to be athletic looking. Slim with definition. And I believe I can achieve that being 137. I don't want to loose all this booty either. Lol. Thanks everyone again. This really helped!!

Maybe at this stage you could do mini goals... 5 lbs at a time. That's what I did. So maybe your next goal could be 145 then see if you like the results when you get there. If not you can always lower it again.

I am 5'4" as well and glad to see someone else is dealing with similar things that I am dealing with ... I would agree with k8 ... the chips and stuff are symptoms of something being amiss somewhere. All you have to do is get to the bottom of that, maybe? In any case, it's clear you have made amazing progress and should be very proud of yourself! You will find something else to motivate you. When the old reasons are 'used up', ya gotta create new ones. All the best. :)
