Snowwhite100's Journal, 09 April 2020

It's so hard to be good. I make potatoes for my husband and I eat cauliflower. I make pasta for him, I eat cauliflower. He has toast, I eat eggs. He has cereal, I eat cheese. A glass of wine a day and 1 fruit that's not berries, and I stay the same or gain.
I went to Costco yesterday, and it's complicated if I want to not contaminate my car. I ended up not taking off my gloves at the car since I needed to stop at the Post Office for stamps(property taxes are due) and the bank. I would have left most in the car for 3 days rather than contaminate my garage but he carried everything in and I was so tired I just went ahead and put the refrigerated items away. We both wore gloves. I'll try not to touch them for a couple of days. Since my husband is 84, has heart failure, COPD, and kidney disease, etc. I don't know if I will infect and lose him. I wore an N95 mask and gloves, dumped all my clothes in the washer, and showered when I got home.
My good friend Sandy has been married for more than 50 years. Her husband had a massive heart attack and they brought him home on hospice to die. I'm scared I'll be in the same boat soon.
I'm not afraid to die. At 78, with high blood pressure and heart problems, I'm just afraid of the possible lung pain and suffocation first. We have no one to take care of us if we get sick. Of course, I need to pray more, to not be afraid.
Probably I'll be nervous about it all for the next two weeks, then it will be time to grocery shop again. We are in Los Angeles. Is everyone here tired of this conversation by now?

Sorry. you sound so stressed. This virus has everyone s concerned. Find a plan that works for you. Not sure what you are doing but if it does not work with you and your family it will not be sustainable. I love potatoes and pasta, they fitmy plan for whole foods and did them into my calories . I averaged calories over a wedk. You do not need to stress more right now.

If I was at 125 lbs. I'd eat whatever I cooked for my husband in moderation. I'd enjoy the potatoes, pasta, toast & fruit. I do in fact eat those foods & I've been maintaining my goal weight pretty well. Don't cause yourself unnecessary stress by trying to be "perfect" right now. Be kind to yourself. ❤ When groceries cone into the house tight now I wipe everything down with antibacterial wipes & put away. Then I dispose of the bags, wipe the counters down & wash my hands really well. You can also leave nonperishable items for awhile before putting them away. The virus dies off on it's own if it would happen to be contaminated.

Are you good with portion control? I mean can you eat a handful of chips and stop? Or just one serving of pasta? If so maybe during this time you could be a little looser on your diet to have a little less stress right now. I have two great aunts who are over weight and have health issues. One still went to her hair appointment and runs errands. The other handles a lot of mail (the community drop off their water bills to her and she handles the rural water accounts). Both are sewing masks for hospitals and are accepting material from others. This is a scary time and I worry for them daily so I get that stress. It’s kind of unavoidable in my opinion so I’m limiting stress in other areas. Also, if you have wipes or cleaner don’t forget to wipe off your steering wheel, door handles etc in the car after wearing gloves in it. You can also wipe down cans and boxes of food if you are worried about that. I’m immunocompromised and a smoker so I have a higher risk. I’m more worried for my kids than myself. I’ve beat cancer so it would suck to be taken out by a virus named after a beer though lol. Gotta laugh to relive stress :). I know you are worried too just try to keep stress at bay when possible. Pray, meditate, turn off the news and read, whatever helps you forget about all this for awhile or helps you cope :). Feel free to message me if you need to talk. Just let me know here so I know to check messages.

Life is short and nothing lasts forever except eternal life in Christ. Enjoy your life, not just endure it.❤

Don’t give up! Pray through it, it’ll help relaxe and knowing you cannot control everything and controlling what you can is a big relieve! Understand the difference and let it go. Don’t come in you car w gloves, unless you can use hand sanitizer on them and everywhere you touched. Don’t panic, it shall pass. I’m overweight and have asthma so I was a little overwhelmed will all the cleaning in the beginning. Now I take the precautions I can and leave the rest to God.
