crabby Kat's Journal, 15 April 2013

The scale surprised me this morning! I was so happy that I wore my sleeveless burnout top to Zumba today (I wore it yesterday with my form-fitting new Zumba capris, and too much of my loose belly showed above the top of the pants) with my looser style black Zumba pants, and did two Zumba classes in a row! Woo hoo!

The instructor of the second class has lots of room for improvement; I was avoiding her class because of her unprofessional, scattered, and broken up style of "teaching". Today she tried out new dances to new songs; it would have helped if she would have learned them herself, first. She had little notes that she read from while she tried to get it right.

I stuck with it until the last five minutes of class, when she was talking with a friend in the front row instead of leading us in a cool-down and stretch song. I started to stretch with a friend, the instructor put on music & started stretching, then hung in a stretch of her back while still talking to her front row pal. I walked to the front corner of the room, grabbed a foam roller that had been left in the room, and proceeded to roll my tight muscles & IT band for the last five minutes of class. I heard a few comments about "that's a good thing to do" and other happy-making things. My friend & I chatted after class & she applauded me for "marching to my own drummer".

I didn't cuss or storm out, I just did what I needed to do, after doing my best to enjoy the Zumba class of an instructor that needs more training. I burned a lot of calories, strengthened my muscles, tightened my abs; life is good!

I needed to stop at Whole Foods to get Beau some grass to munch on, so I rewarded myself for a job well done with a package of my favorite cilantro lime jalapeno kale chips. Mmmmm!

I took more pictures of Buddy trying to drain the hummingbird feeder in the sunshine today; love it! A bigger squirrel has been trying to take over the little guys territory; we've been running the big guy off when we can, especially when we saw him running at a redwing blackbird & scaring it off.

The biggest visitor to dine on birdy buffet has been the Northern Flicker; bigger than the huge stellar jay that likes to drop by. I need to go to Winco to replenish my seed & nut supplies!

We should arrange playdates for our birdie's :-) I bought seed esp for songbirds and the Stooges wouldn't touch it. So two feeders. Reminds me of a junior high lunch room. So when will we read our Slender Kitkat is leading a Zumba class..hmmmm?

Glad you enjoyed your new clothes and pleased that you had the 'hutzpa' to do what you new needed done at the Zumba class. And I love the imagery you paint about the birds and the squirrel. I haven't tried Kale chips yet, not sure if they are available up here in Ontario but I will try to remember to look for them this week-end.
