angel_face0145's Journal, 16 February 2020

I feel like I should be happy, but still, feel like I should have done better? Am I being too hard on myself? I think it's my doctor putting ridiculous numbers to lose on my mind, making me feel down. Wants me at 340 come March and I know it's going to be hard and a long shot so it's taking the joy from any other loss.

Draglist, yes it was 3 pounds for the week. I know it's a good number but whenever I see my doctor he is always disappointed with me. It's like this with every doctor I see, always a mood downer.

I guess this might sound sexist, but I'll say it anyway. My PCP is always a woman. All my other doctors are also women whenever possible. I have nothing against male doctors, but I live in a female body, and I want a doctor that does also. I think we relate to each other on a better plain, and, I find women doctors are more sympathetic to my situations. Plus, I like supporting women in all professions. Just saying. 😁

And, you, my dear, are doing a great job and can be very proud of yourself. And you deserve a doctor who lifts you up. 🌈🌈🌈

My female OBGYN is way worse than my male doctor lol. It got to the point my husband told her off. She told me I was worthless because I'm fat. Her goal for me is 100 pounds by April. All doctors here in my little area are that same. I guess that rural life lol.

You’ve lost almost 50 lbs. That’s amazing! Just keep doing what you’re doing. 💖

Oh, and if your Dr told you you’re worthless because you’re fat, you need to FIRE HER. Find a Dr who’s supportive. I have a wonderful Dr who never mentions my weight. He’s more interested in me adopting healthy habits.

Yes, it's hard living in the middle of nowhere, my doctors are over 30 miles away 60 miles round trip. I did have one doctor who was really nice and good but she left to go to the university hospital over 400 miles away. Happy for her but sucked for me, now I have to settle, unless it comes to the point I just cannot deal with them, then I will for sure search again.

I live in a tiny, rural town. My Dr is in an even tinier rural town, 20 miles further from the nearest, biggish city than I am. You deserve better than to be treated like this. The more “important” people run you down, the more depressed you get and the harder it is to succeed. Drs should know better! 😕

Your Dr., or anyone else who tells you that type of bullshit, is a fool. Not because they are wrong about your medical condition, or your need to drop, or even the speed at which you can/should drop. Because they are failing to understand that you have already built a strong foundation for success, and the key to realizing that success is persistence. Progress, positivity, and comraderie nourish your persistence. Everything else is a distraction and a liability.

Most doctors have little nutrition schooling. That's one reason for the obesity epidemic we have. It is really sad be with the right diet our bodies can take care of themselves. There is also the psychological aspect to this your doctor looks like he or she is missing. He should be be building you up emotionally and praising your success as your buddies here are

So sorry about your limited choices, I wasn't thinking, since I live in Houston, with unlimited medical resources. In spite of what your doctor is telling you, you are doing well, so just keep doing what you are doing, keep losing weight and you will be ab!e to look him/her in the eye and say, "Look at me, I succeeded in spite of you." 💜💚💛

I mean- I'd expect you to lose more than 3 pounds in a week, also- given your current weight. I know my comment will be frowned upon and everyone will tell me how unsupportive I am- but it's true. Just keep at it though. 3 pounds a week- 12 pounds a month- 144 in a year. Better than gaining. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I spoke to my nutritionist today, and she said 2 pounds a week should be my goal based on past hormonal problems and recent ones. For those who don't know when I was a child, I had Gigantism and have to have surgery to have it fixed. At 5 years old I was 5'9 and 200 pounds, it not only affected my height but also my gerth. Now that I'm older I'm suffering from Cushing and hypothyroidism. I was on steroids and tons of hormones, which I still am. She said it's amazing I'm losing like I am, and that I'll never be thin, my bones alone weigh 100 pounds. They are testing me for Acromegaly now, which is like Gigantism only but occurs after the growth plate cartilage fuses in adulthood.

She was 485 and is not 380 and it took her about a year. Please Please Please don't listen to the ones who put you down and say thats not enough because its fantastic and wonderful and amazing that you have the will power and comittment to fight these conditions that NO ONE else knows how hard of a struggle it is! Following you!
