Debbie Cousins's Journal, 10 February 2020

Eating has been totally out of control. Going to try to at least RECORD what I'm eating today and try to get in SOME water (it's a start). Have my monthly psychiatrist appointment again today. Even though i am inundating myself with positive reading, I still am battling the catastrophic thinking (imagining the very worst outcome of real and imaginary situations). I at least catch myself now, and try to immediately get OUT of the thought and try to think of something positive. Maybe my meds still need a little more tweaking?

It sounds like the meds do need tweaking. Or perhaps a different one. It sucks but it just takes time for them to get it worked out. It took me three years ;). As for your food, yes log! Logging is important. It makes us accountable. I find sometimes I won’t eat something because I don’t want to get my phone to log or I don’t want someone looking at my log and seeing 3 snickers lol. You’ve got this!

What Peeper said! It took a long time to get my meds figured out then I wanted to drop one. UMM not a great idea so we added it back and I think, feel so much better on the combo I am on now. Hugs

Sorry your eating is out of control. I know that feeling. One technique I used to use is to break a binge cycle is to eat scheduled amounts several times a day. If you want to eat something you know that a scheduled snack is coming so you wait. It is definitely not good to eat so many times a day but I am just saying do this as a way to interrupt unscheduled frenzied feeding. I got this method of out the book Overcoming Binge Eating. Then after you are following your schedule you can cut out some of the times or make them farther apart in time. Good luck and hugs.

You’re not alone Debbie hang in there. It’s really not that bad of a gain. You can definitely lose that. I’m so happy to hear that you’re in control of your thinking, and you catch yourself when you’re thinking something negative, and then you turn around and focus on the positive.

Thanks for the kind and thoughtful comments, @schmetterlinge34, @peeperjj, @tatauu22 and @ny_shelley! The doc decided that we will increase my Rexulti from 1mg to 2mg and try that for a week and see if it makes any difference. I'm still on 150mg Wellbutrin and 20mg Trintellix, and will continue at those dosages. TRIED to cut my Wellbutrin down to 75mg last month, but it didn't go well, so I went back to my "normal" dose. You'd think there would be a more precise way to figure out the best dose of which meds! Like take blood, or spinal fluid or somemthing, and get a printout that tells exactly what you need to be balanced. Maybe someday! For now, I'm ok - just not GREAT, and I want to be great! I know, I know -- you all already think I AM great, LOL! Off to have lunch with my 9-year-old grand daughter at her school!

Debbie, perhaps seeing a good counselor (e.g., LCSW, MSW, PhD, church counselor outside the community of which your husband is pasto?) once a week or every two weeks, would help you focus on your goals. I never found helpful those monthly 15-min. medication appointments with a psychiatrist

Start recording your calories and your liquid. I'm drinking a thermos full of hot tea today because it's cold. 20 oz. If I do two, that's my water for the day. It's decaf because sleep is also important for me. You know you can do this.

One day at a time Debbie! One goal at a time...it adds up. Take it slow! XOXO

Oh Debbie, I am sorry you are floundering a bit. Its good you're reading the right things, but I wonder whether listening to relevant Podcasts would help? I get mine from iTunes, I really find they help (plus the reading). I am sorry I don't know where to find them otherwise. Maybe this helps you? You know, we really are SO alike.
