kingkeld's Journal, 27 February 2013

Yeah, baby, yeah!

It's NOT time for a new low. In fact, that's usually not due until Saturday. However, on this fine - FINE - Wednesday morning, I'm a pound lower than I have been for quite a while.

This morning I weighed in at 89.0 kilos. A full kilo under 90! Yeah!

This makes me a LOT less worried about Sushi dinner this coming Friday. I will - obviously - still just eat what I have planned, I will HAVE to stick to that - but I am okay if I do gain a bit from salt etc. for a few days. I have already seen a new low, and that's what I needed.

However, I am in no way gonna go nuts with the soy sauce. lol. And as suggested in the comments on yesterday's journal, wasabi will restrict the amount of food consumed. :) Trouble is, of course, that I'm a tough case when it comes to spicy foods, and I can eat Wasabi like crazy. Well, almost.

I did GREAT on the calories yesterday. Again, I have many hundreds to spare. I wasn't at ANY point hungry for more, and I ate what felt right.

After work, I went to teach, and this usually means early dinner. But leaving at 3:30 PM from work makes dinner very early. I simply concluded that it was too early, so I decided I could wait until after teaching, around 6:30 PM.

Coming back, going home, I decided it was silly to go buy dinner when I was heading home and could eat at home. Besides, I wasn't really hungry still. I didn't need any more food.

As I came home, we had a few friends visiting, and I got totally sidetracked on the dinner thing. It just wasn't a priority. I opted for a banana and left it at that.

Total calorie intake for yesterday was less than 1000.

Today, I have a class to attend to all day. This means the dreaded (and incredibly dull) sandwich for lunch, if I opt to eat what everyone else it having. Which essentially means that I'm bringing my own lunch. :) I can't stand those sandwiches, and there is no chance that I will "waste" 700 calories on one.

Instead, I'm brining apples and bananas - in case I get hungry. I also made an extra large 2nd breakfast, as I'm going to the gym before class.

I put an extra slice of rye bread and an extra egg in my lunch box.

Dinner tonight will be super low cal chichen soup leftovers again, so it's all planned and calculated already.

Today is a good day.

...

I wanted to do a quick clarification of what I wrote yesterday. I was talking about losing and gaining the same two kilos, and how that frustrates me. This is true. I got a comment (thanks Lizzy!) about it, and I read it as if my buddy assumed that I was talking about the spikes that comes from Indulgence Day. These aren't what I was talking about. I am perfectly fine with those spikes. I know where they come from, and I know that they'll be gone in a few days, just like I see it today.

However, my issue was that when I don't do this the RIGHT way (and I see now that I haven't - I have slacked too much, even if I didn't realize it), and the end result - weight loss - never came.

Instead of losing two kilos, gaining two kilos - Indulgence Day is supposed to give me "Losing THREE kilos, gaining two kilos, losing THREE kilos, gaining two kilos", etc.

This works. I have done it before, and I am doing it now - AND seeing the results from it. It's really not hard once the mindset is there to do it. Any weight loss journey calls for determination. We can choose how hard we want it to be to lose weight, but we can't change the face that we need to do what we're supposed to do, and we need to quit doing what we're NOT supposed to do. There is no other way. It just doesn't have to be the HARD and almost impossible way. There are ways to do this where it's completely accomplishable.

Today, I'm thankful for:
- 89 kilos! NICE!
- Morning coffee!
- The option to opt out of having sandwiches for lunch.

Happy Wednesday! Life is good!

89 whoop, whoop. Well done... And YES you should STILL be careful on Friday. You have a way to go before your op. planning isthe way to go for you and you certainly seem to have that covered :-). Have a great day :-)

Keld, you are perfectly right saying there MUST be ways to loose weight and stay and track and workout that are accomplishable (and reasonable, I would add). Extreme diets and workout plans may work for some time, but that's not a plan normal people are able to follow every day of their lives. My father always suggested me not to overdo with both eating and working out. Working out two or three times a week for 30 or 60 minutes is something everybody can do for years and years in a row. Working out 3 hours per day, 7 days a week is not achievable on a years time scale (unless it's your profession, of course). Same with eating, it cannot be Indulgence day 7 days a week, but we need it at least once in a week. Balance, that's the trick. And thanks for motivating us every day with your journals!

Mornin' Keld.... I decided to go back and read your journals from day 1 - amazing! It'll take a few days but I'm enjoying following your three year journey to where you are now.

Bella - are you SURE you don't have anything more interesting to do? LOL. I appreciate it though. It's been a (generally) fun ride.

Lizzy, it's a GREAT feeling to have re-found my groove. I really feel that I'm on the right track now, and the results seem to be showing. Now, why the heck couldn't I do this half a year ago?!?

King--I've been on that roller coaster forever recently. I hate gaining and losing the same 1-2 pounds. Makes me wonder why our bodies do this or if I'm doing something wrong. I know this has caused me to go off diets in the past, but I'm not giving up this time. It would be helpful to understand why our bodies do this though.

Worm2 - TO me it has seemed that I did what I was supposed to do. However, now that I AM DOING what I am supposed to do, I clearly see and feel the difference. Maybe take a good, hard look at what you're doing, and see if you can work out where you're going wrong. Are you eating ENOUGH? Are you eating the right things? Are you eating the WRONG things? Inbox me if there is anything I can do to help. :)
