Well! UPPSY-DAISY! Yeah, finally that losing streak has been broken, and weight has slunk back on up a little...!! Think I jinxed myself??? Not a big difference, only a 0.2 pd gain, but it's more of a SYMBOLIC message to read into--i.e., the scale has kept swinging as far down as it would go, and have now realized it went too far...so slow back down...well, I do hope this does not mean a continued upward trend again! Or my ever-familiar plateaus?!! This has happened a lot before---I will start to rapidly lose weight for some time, and then...zip! nada! zilch! Gave Over! A PLATEAU for 2 months or so!!! With LOTS of teasing by the scale with a few points up and a few down...!!

Ok, ok, enough ranting! I'm totally making a big deal of this! Chilling now! :)

It is quite possible that yesterday's asian food added to the salt-content, and I DID feel bloated later in the evenign, so it could well be the salt. Also, I didn't work out at all...!

So, now, it's really up to ME to decide my fortune on the scale---workout, and eat low sodium today. Oh, and after Sibby's lovely description yesterday, I think I'm pretty well done with my taste for asian food for a coupla days at least! LOL! (Hey, Sibs, if ya're reading, are ya feeling some guilt? Are ya? Well, GOOD!) LOL!

Oh, and am going to seriously track my carbs count as of today--as serious as the ww points. I've been able to get back into the carbs challenge (Thanks, Sararay!), and while won't be recording stuff there, I do want to use the incentive of the challenge to learn some good carb ways that works for my body!

Ok, wish me luck! I worry that experimenting--even a little bit--can have some unexpected, serious results! I especially feel concerned that I'm just jumping on this horse--all on sheer intuition--and without fully having read the details and the science behind the whole atkins thing (I did read some stuff on low and high GI stuff, and it's well convincing me)...but overall, my loosey-goosey, non-analytic, non-prepared, non-scientific approach goes against my very nature and training as a scientist--hence, the worry..but oh well! Until I can rustle up some good time to really read up big time, I'll just have to go by the basics that I've picked up...

P.S: Just had a little eureka-moment! So, if we are on a losing streak, we are a WINNER! But if we don't lose, how are we a LOSER??!!! Well, since this idea doesn't make linguistic sense, I'm gonna say, IF WE DON'T LOSE--We're NOT A LOSER!!!! We are the wonderful people we are--regardless of the judgment of the scale!!!

154.0 lb Lost so far: 24.0 lb.    Still to go: 24.0 lb.    Diet followed 100%.
gaining 1.4 lb a week

Plateau Schmateau! You already have the answer to why the scale went up (a teeensy bit)! Sodium and no exercise! I worry about the experimenting, too. But it's not a permanent thing unless you want it to be. Personally, I think you already had a healthy eating plan, you just deviate from it and pay the price - and that could happen with a new plan, too. So, I wish you the VERY best of luck with what you're trying! Maybe just the newness of it will inspire you to stick with it. Hey, just for you, no vile topics in my journal today. <pout>

Experimentation is scary... but then sometimes it's good to explore new territories, as we make new finds which make that experimenting worthwhile. Like Amryk though I also believe that your previous eating plan was absolutely fine... just be careful that you are eating enough especially when you're working out as much as you do sometimes! ;o) As you probably know... I still live by the motto eat more (with exercise), loose more... so long as it's healthy foods, if counting WW points. My personal belief is that scales stalling or even gaining can be a result of eating too few calories, slowing the metabolism. US WW points are very, very low... hence the 35 flex, so I'm sure even low-carbing you could quite happily eat them and still lose nicely. With every new photo you post though Amee, your efforts are just shining through... you're just looking fabulous and a complete transformation from the Amee I first met here... so you just keep up the great work!! ;o)

Like comment from yesterday. When use Asian canned products make sure to drain all fluid. Most of the sodium is in the juices, not the product itself. Paul sometimes even rinses them. It's a good thing you're not worried about the tiny increase. Life is a roller coaster and so will your weight (hopefully they're just small ups and large downs). Get your workout in today! Keep it up.

I think that limiting the simple and high GI carbs is a great idea but flying the Atkins plane by the seat of your pants is a risky proposition. If you really are going to go whole hog on it, I'd suggest you get some of those ketosis testing sticks the low carbers talk about so you know if your efforts are paying off rathing than playing a game of hit and miss. But I certainly wish you great success. You put so much thought and effort into your plans, I'm sure this will work for you, too.

Oh my, I got dizzy just reading your journal, lol. DON'T overanalyze every little gain or loss! Having said that, I think your analysis is absolutely correct that it IS sodium, he he.

Hey Kim! Doncha know ME by NOW?? Analysis is my middle name, and over-analyzing-things-to-death is my game! hehe! But, I'm glad I have friends like you and JulieC who'll kick me back to reality when I go off exploring the whys and wherefores of all things real, abstract, and made-up! LOL! Love ya for setting me straight!

Aw. thank you for your lovely comments on my journal Amee, but yep... there is no doubt that you have made fabulous progress, so I'm more than happy to keep reminding you of that. I know we don't always see it ourselves... but you line up all those piccy's -- maybe make another "inspiration board" like we did in one of the challenges? I'm sure you'll then see a major difference! ;o) Well, isn't weight-loss a science of nutrition? Lol, maybe we can use that excuse when we start analysing. I know I do it too all the time... except I do it with my "mother hen" hat on. I just re-read what I wrote earlier and thought you were probably thinking "oh there she goes again... nag, nag, nag!" C'est la vie... my mothering instinct! You just keep analysing... 'cause without science there wouldn't be any new discoveries. :o)
