LTHOMP56's Journal, 18 October 2019

I'm very upset about weight. I weighed the same as last week but I kept calories down to under 1000 during the week . i drank my water and did alot of yard work every day. I raked and cut limbs and carried pile after pile to street . i don't know what else to do to lose . i guess I'm going to have to cut calories back down to less than 700 during the week. I know I splurge during the weekend but try to keep it down. I weighed 105.2 last Sat so I've actually gained. My Sat night was bad I know but after that I've kept calories lower. Any suggestions would be appreciated .
105.4 lb Lost so far: 11.6 lb.    Still to go: 2.4 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Not sure, I am doing the same thing, splurging on the weekends and keeping to 1200 calories a day. I think I have to stop splurging since I am not losing.

Lthomp56, have you ever heard of a “refeed day”? Giving your body more may sound counterintuitive, but it can help replenish energy stores and help reboot that metabolism. Everyone’s body is different, and I’m only speaking from my personal experience. But I believe it’s worth a google search! Best of luck. 💛

I agree with Salmonriverrat. Increase calories and focus on good fats and quality protein.

Perhaps reconsider your goal? I don't know your height or age, but my primary is VERY adamant that at 53 yr old and 5'1" I should have a goal of not less than 130, and she'd prefer closer to 140 keeping my calories between 1500 and 1800.

It depends on how many calories you have on the weekend. If it's really a lot over your RDI, the 1000 calories during the week may be just making you maintain. It's a good eating plan once you reach maintenance. But I find I have to stay around 1000-1200 calories to lose. 700 calories doesn't sound like enough to get all the protein, etc that you need.

@ConiMN I'm 63 and 4'8" . I do go over on weekends about 500 or 600 calories. I try to stay less than 1400 on Sunday but Sat is my worse day. We always go out with family Sat night and don't not alot to choose from in dinner options. They eat what they want so calories are only an issue for me.

@keyten77 I've gained 5 lbs and 2 inches in my hips. I'm not liking the way my clothes fit and def not what i see in the mirror. But then even when I was 92 lbs I didnt like my mirror image. I know I should look at the bigger picture. That I've loss over 80 lbs . I use to be 56 inches in my hips and now 28 . To me I have alot of body issues . Ppl say I look skinny but they only see me with my clothes on. I know I def don't without. They don't see my flaws. I know I'll never look like I want but I know right now with the extra inches and lbs I def look more fat.

It’s a process and weight loss is not always linear. Just keep doing what you are doing. The results will show

you weigh 105 pounds...your goal is 100 pounds. are you an adult? how tall are you?

The cause is thought to be the proper weight. If you have a BMI of 23 or less, rather than losing weight, we suggest eating a high protein, medium carbohydrate, low fat diet and balancing the whole body with weight training.

At this point, you might need to consider its a psychological thing instead of an actual health thing. Your BMI says you’re a healthy weight.

I'm with choopachooer, here. From (https://www.smartbmicalculator.com/). Check out what their site says about your stats, especially health, fitness, diet aspects - Your weight is at the level that, in our view, should be optimal for health. By classification of the WHO, you are "normalweight". Your body mass index (BMI) is calculated as exactly 23.5 kilograms per square meter. The calculation of the body mass index is based on a height of 4 feet 8 inches (142 cm) and a weight of 105 pounds (47.6 kilograms). Maybe, you're dealing more with body image than weight issues.

.. I'll add that if it's body image you are struggling with, then there are ways to sculpt the body parts. I'm not a lifter, but I think they know how to do things to make body parts look different. Trainers at gyms know.

This happens to me when I don’t eat enough. Sometimes my body just needs a good meal! I don’t take in enough fats during the day.

@rgaDawg I get around very good and I feel good so yes it's body image not health issues. I just want to like what I see in the mirror. I know if I can lose those 5 lbs I'll feel better about myself. My clothes all fit but I'm not liking the way i look with the extra lbs.

I should feel good that I've loss over 80 lbs and 58 inches off my hips . I'm maintaining around 105 but to be honest I would love to get back down to 92. That for health reasons i won't try to do . Its just frustrating watching calories and not seeing the scale go down. i did it before cutting calories down to under 700 but I'm trying not to go that far again if possible.
