Fritzy 22's Journal, 29 September 2019

Met my weekly goal of 1.5 pounds, but have been fasting since Thursday evening in order to accomplish it. I'm about 62 hours into the fast and will break it soon. Had a bad couple of days when the power was out. Couldn't log or get online at all. Had to throw some stuff out of the refrigerator (eggs) but the freezer food stayed frozen. Need to go grocery shopping and am hoping to start cooking more. I ordered some pans for the oven so I can start roasting vegetables and I hope to make the meatless stew again this week (recipe given to me by Keyten) and I also want to make soup - I make it with canned cut tomatoes for the broth and chicken instead of beef, and potatoes, carrots, celery, and onion. May add a couple tablespoons of lentils for additional protein and fiber.. As much as I don't like to cook, I know I need to be able to cook more often in order to reach my goal and then once there, to maintain.

Thanks Keyten and Liv. I had my gas stove to cook on while power was out, but not much food left and I didn't want to go the grocery store which was running on a generator. I didn't eat like I was on a diet. I ate stuff I could cook on the stove. I opened a can of corned beef hash one day and took a package of pierogies out of the freezer. Those I fry in butter and then pour melted butter over them! So I wasn't surprised to go up 2+ pounds. Also met friends for lunch at BJ's Brewhouse where I didn't do to bad, but not good enough to lose weight

Liv - It's cold here today. We went from the mid 90's when they turned the power off to around a high of 70. We even had another thunderstorm last night. So home made soup is sounding good!

Yeah. I think it is 40 here. Snow forecasted for tonight. A bit early for snow.

Liv - where are you? Adef - The fast was hard, but I was determined to at least lose something. I wanted to do water only, but ended up with a cup of hot tea on Friday and Saturday with a tablespoon of honey. Hope you are doing well on your eating day!

It's cold and raining here, was 53 F (12 C) this morning. Had to turn the furnace on. I have beef bourguinon in the hot pot for tonight - cold weather dinner.

No furnace on over here. Back to a high of 91 expected tomorrow. Love cooler weather and can't wait for it!

It was cold enough for me to put a thick flannel comforter on the bed last night. Such a huge swing in temperatures! Looks like we will get back to around 80-82 this coming week, otherwise all in the 70's. Hopefully we won't have any more 90+ days.

Fritzy, what a lot of control that took to change that gain into a loss. Good going! I've never fasted more than 48 hours, so hats off!! BTW, pierogis are great!! Liv, I bet coming from western Canada you have pierogis too? I boil them, drain em, then put them on a cookie sheet with sauteed onions and cheese...Then broiled! They are lovely! I'm so glad the heat the fire danger is reduced. Must be such a relief. Now you can focus on preparing for that next trip to the beach! I'm counting down the day until we get to head to Cannon Beach! 29 days!

hit tea and honey sounds great! Lately, I have wanted English Tea! Yum. but not good for diet.

Melissa - I grew up eating pierogis. Never learned to make them. My mom boiled them with mashed potatoes and cheese inside and after they were cooked we ate with melted butter poured over them. I would eat somewhere between 2 & 4 of them. My younger sister would eat and eat so many! Maybe a dozen. She makes them still and her grandkids love them. I'll have to tell her what you do, putting in the oven with sautéed onions and cheese. I occasionally buy a box of them in the freezer section at the grocery store. Lydium - I drink tea most days. Love the mint flavored teas. But I have to have some sweetener in it. So I'll add 1 tablespoon of honey. Since I'm not on a low carb diet, I can indulge in a little bit of honey.
