59Carol's Journal, 28 September 2019

I am getting ready to leave for a bookkeeping computer class. I just have a couple of minutes. The weight is reasonable. One pound is good.

My good friend whose husband died last January has now lost her 34 year old son. He was my son's good friend. They each stood up for each other at their weddings and have been each others support for most of their lives. He was killed in an single auto accident on a gravel road where he died on the scene. He is leaving behind a pregnant wife of 12 years and two small children. My children are both with the family and supporting them the best they can. I will be there on Monday. I spent some hours with my friend the day after however I know I am needed with their family as soon as I can make it.

Sometimes I wonder just how much grief one family can withstand. My friend was already devastated by the loss of her husband. Losing her son is a terrible blow-every parent's nightmare. I am terribly worried about her and her other three children.

Isn't that the truth- how much grief can one family stand- seems like there are some who are dealt repeated blows. Heart breaking!

Thank you for all of your kind wishes. I am headed to them this afternoon. My sister is coming as well. There is definitely a gathering of the community. The men- his brothers and friends-were building a coffin for him yesterday. Last January he and his brothers built their dad's coffin. His brothers must be so sad remembering working with him on their dad's while making his.

I am so sorry, Carol. This is terrible. Like you said—every parent’s worst nightmare. No parent should have to bury their child... I’m sending prayers over your way... 😣
