Debbie Cousins's Journal, 14 September 2019

Doing terrible lately. Scale actually hit 200 this morning! Of course, this makes me depressed and I want to EAT. Been on the new antidepressant for a week and a half now. I had one day where I thought it was making a difference (actually vacuumed my kitchen and living room). Still not really leaving the house except to go to the grocery store. I think I'll go back to bed!

Debbie— I think your husband is a pastor— am I right?. Would it be possible for you to get out of the house and maybe go visit some parishioners who are in the hospital or who are themselves unable to get out of the house. Anything besides laying in bed. Anything else that you can think of that you could do to change up your physical environment. These are not “fresh” ideas that have never been tried I’m sure, but I see laying in bed waiting for pills to work as not working either. Can you ask a friend who is aware of your situation to join you in taking a craft class or something with you just so you get some social stimulation? Lots of support — I wish I had some magic for you.

Reaching out to someone seems like something to try Debbie. No easy answers for sure.

look into amino acids for ddepressionand weight loss. 5htp and dlpa in particular. I can't function without them. I know exactly what you're talkin about. I couldn't get out of bed for a year. I started taking my pills and within 3 days I was up and moving. Working out again, taking my dog out, and being able to wash my ass. it's insane how simple it is. We beat ourselves up because our brain chemistry is jacked up. it is such a simple and easy fix. I feel silly for not having known this before

I've been where you are many, many times in my life - wishing you the best with a very difficult situation - people just think you should get up and go or take some kind of pills and everything will be fine but it is sometimes impossible to do anything - hopefully you can find some way that works for you - sometime I just have to take things minute by minute - please take care of yourself as best you can and know you are not alone

I'm glad to see you come... And check in and weigh in. I'm so sorry things are so tough. Hold tight to what you know. You are loved and the struggle is worth it. I'm praying too.

Give it more time. I’ve been on a new one for about 3 weeks and it’s starting to kick in. They say 4-6 weeks though. Eating more than you need results in more depression usually 😢. I just organized my entry closet which was huge for me. My issue is boredom yet no motivation to do anything except workout. I wouldn’t do that except some I’m obsessed with and I want the extra calorie burn. I’m sure you get it. Hope the meds kick in more over this next week and you feel like doing more!

First of all, you're not doing so bad. You stick to your log here on FS. That in itself is a fantastic thing that you do. Congrats. There is one thing I know is vital for my body. I need a breakfast with egg and some meat to get a good start on a new day. One thing I avoid is to start a day with carbs... doing that can easily result in a really bad day. Keep logging please... better to be in group than alone.

I suffer from major depressive disorder...I understand what you are going through. Hopefully the new medication will start to work soon. If it does not, seek medical attention. Prayers and hugs coming your way.

I haven’t been on the site for a long time, so when I was finally able to get back on, today, and start recording food tomorrow, I was sad to see that you’re feeling so down. Wish I could wave a magic wand and help u, but they don’t sell any around here. Suffice it too say, I am hoping for you to find your strength again. You’re a remarkable lady. Dig deep... you CAN do this, again. Joani
