davidsprincess's Journal, 14 July 2019

One of the things I wanted to do when I lost weight was go roller skating because I haven't gone since I was a kid and wanted to be good at it. So I asked David to go to the skating rink with me about 6 weeks ago. I told him I was going to go every Saturday. We have gone probably four times out of the last 6 Saturdays. For my birthday he surprised me with my own skates- black with hot pink laces. Prior to my own skates there was a sign at the rink that said Absolutely no skate rentals if over 200#'s. I took my chances and hoped no one would ask me because I am a terrible liar and would have blurted out "I'm 208" if asked. So the first time I went around after not being on skates for years- it took me about 12 minutes to get around the rink just once. I kinda did a weird march/frankenstein walk. Super embarrassing but the upside is the rink is filled without a lot of weirdos who are actually pretty accepting. :) For whatever reason- every Saturday it still takes me a couple times around to remember how to do it... and I'd be lying if I said I was great at it or really fast- but I am much better and having fun. I don't hold David's hand anymore and while he glides past on rollerblades- I stick to my skates and try to think about what else I want to learn now that I'm on my way to a smaller size. Beyond blessed and loving my life and my new self. 💗

They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for... 🌹🌹🌹

Thanks, Melissa- Erq-Keillin-LZenn-Babayjo. I'm having fun and its really good exercise. They have a poster at the rink that says 1 hour=600 calories burned. I can't imagine that since I'm not very fast but I do definitely work up a sweat so when I enter it into my activity log- I try to cut the time short to make it more realistic. And- honestly, Chris- I appreciate your support. You know that. ;)

Funny you mention skating in this post because one of my goals is getting myself new rollerblades once I hit my 250 goal. I'm just under 300 now after losing 20+ lbs so I'm getting there. It's funny what it takes to motivate us.

Kevin- I assume you have rollerbladed in the past? :) My husband was on the fence because he said rollerblades are so much smoother than skates- but thought skates would be easier for me to start with. Maybe one day I will graduate to blades. Make sure you post about it when you get there! Keep me posted! Awesome job losing your 20+ lbs!!

I love this story!!! You go after whatever your heart desires. 💗💗💗 And we are all a little weird, some are a lot weird. 🤪🤪🤪

That's awesome!!! I'm wondering about the reason behind the weight limit imposed by the rink. Regardless, great goal and congratulations on reaching it and making it a reality. I had a similar one on my previous loss. I wanted to weigh the same as my grandson's so we could race gocarts.

Thanks, Becc@- yes we all have our quirks. Bella- Maybe they don't want the wheels bent on their rental skates. LOL- I don't know. and thanks.

That is awesome. I love roller skating. However, I don't go any more due to my osteopenia plus in December I will be 70 years old. I do not need a fall. The last one I had a spiral fracture of my left tibia. Got off track. I am so proud you are making goals and obtaining them.
