Did you ever notice people tell you; you should do more for yourself and then when you do, the same people give you the impression that you are being selfish. I'm so tired of trying with the people in my life. I'm headed to the gym to beat some sense into the heavy bag. Have a healthy day 🙋

Sometimes I have to remind myself that it's their problem, not mine. And then refuse to let them make it my problem. Hope the rest of your day is better. 💜

It's your journey, not theirs.

I usually rationalize that they are attempting to project their own insecurities onto me via mixed messages. I could be wrong but there is something at play to drive a person like that.

Sometimes. Honestly I’m harder on myself than they are on me. I always feel guilty for taking time for myself but it’s gotta be done. The family has clean clothes, a fairly clean house, food to eat and they always get to their practices and events as well as have a listening ear. Now I just limit them to meals and 10 minutes each before bed and after school because they constantly talk over me and each other and it’s chaos. I don’t deal with chaos well anymore. The rest of my time is devoted to looking up meal plans, going to appointments, going to the gym 3x a week, being on here, playing a game or two a day and reading 1-3 books per week and occasionally trying to gather garage sale stuff, declutter and organize. Sometimes someone will comment how I don’t spend time with the kids then turn around and say my house is a mess. It can’t be both ways when I have to clean and pick up after 5 of us. People can’t understand our lives unless they live with us and take over our stuff for a few days. I do my best to ignore it then call a friend and we complain about the idiots lol.

Yup! I don't know about the relationship you have with those people - but from the instances in my own life where this has happened - it's usually people who like taking you for granted. I am a 'yes' person and like to be agreeable (unless I'm being technical about something..I like accuracy lol). It gives me absolute joy to do for others. I do not mind sacrificing my own needs sometimes. The thing about being this personality is that you are a textbook target for takers. Not everyone is a taker but you will be a target for those who are. You will say yes all day long - and the exact moment you say no - not even to be mean - just because you might not be able or have a conflict... they get really really nasty. I've taken that as a sign for me to be more discerning. To work the other way around - begin being a 'you' person as you get to know people and when you learn of their good intentions - then be accommodating. Those who get mad for you suddenly taking time for yourself, like @TacoRay said forget about them! Thank your lucky stars their true colors have shined through and kick 'em to the curb.

I am always amazed and pleased at the out pouring of support and advice. My Hubby must have realized what he did today because tonight he was an absolute gentleman and complimented me several times. Dinner for him and my Mom(we live with and care for her) was spaghetti and Italian sausage, mine was salad with tuna and mushrooms...he actually complimented my will power...who would have thought🤔🤔🤔 Thanks for getting me through the hump today🙋😘

Found some quotes for you to prove you are not selfish. “Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live.” ― Oscar Wilde .... and .... “Nothing resembles selfishness more closely than self-respect” ― George Sand, Indiana .... I know the second one is kind of odd. It means that people often mistake self-respect for selfishness. ..... Another way of looking at the situation is that you are trying to make yourself healthier, which will cause you to live longer and allow you to take better care of your family since you will be avoiding disease and illness. You can also ask them a question, "Don't you want me to be healthy?"

IDK, maybe take all the advice listed above, print it, hand it to the person. Perspective comes in handy.
