Day 1 of a planned 6 days of ‘no solid food’ fasting
Blood sugar 104 mg/dL

Yesterday, I had a day of ‘letting lose’. However, I did a 7 mile 🏃🏾‍♂️ run and I did not have any protein shakes.

What I have also found in looking at my numbers: "Weight gained from high carb days requires multiple low carb days to get back to 'even'". Meaning, I need to minimize my 'high carb/high protein" days (I care about protein too because my body can turn excess protein into glucose).

The months I had the highest weight loss were the months that I had the fewest 'high carb days'. Again, for me, if I pack on a lot of fat, I have to have a bunch of 'low carb days' (like 3-4) before I start 'really burning' that fat. So I can't just look at my 'monthly averages", I have to look at 3 and 7 day 'running averages'. For me, I see that the 'high carb days' are my problem.

This week and next week I plan to have only 1 'high carb day' rather than 2. Also, I will break my fast on Saturday morning rather than Friday. I will see if that helps me.

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

@ liv001, @Keilin_4 - Thanks! I do expect my usual 'bounce back up' on Tuesday or Wednesday. My body will refill glycogen levels when it can (for example when I don't run) even if it has to use some fat using gluconeogenesis. This should be an 'even exchange of fat to glycogen', except that, to store glycogen, it has to also store water, and I can get a 'water weight gain'), so I could hit 170-172. However, I plan to fast 6 days rather than the usual 5, so I 'hope' to get down to 165 by Saturday. Basically the adding and dumping of my glycogen (and its associated water) through running and not running, can move the scale 7-10 pounds in either direction in only a few days (see: https://www.leanhigh.com/glycogen-weight-loss). Basically I do tis every week :) However Let's see what happens this week. I hope to net a 'true NET loss"...

Yeah if you can get past Friday evening and start on Saturday instead you should be in good shape. I need to do that too. Beginning to binge the night before really hurts my efforts

You have a plan, you just need to follow it. 👍

@CrashtestDawnie - The funny thing is, I KNOW that the 'fastest way to success' is to simply -stick-to-the-plan-every-day- I spend a LOT of time looking at your numbers and I believe that is why you out performed me practically every month. Even this past January, you lost more weight, faster, than I ever have! Look at your numbers, consistency 7 days a week. The highest your carbs get is in the 20s and for 'normal people' THAT is the goal, for you, that is when you are 'slacking'😜. You are the champ at showing that *consistency* that works, when you feel like it :)

You are so right about this ride being mainly mental. Hope you get the numbers you're after. 👍

@Becc@ - Thanks! I am definitely in the 'doing something new' territory :) I KNOW I can drop weight by 'true water fasting', but, I just don't have the 'mental strength' for it right now .The most I can do these days is 3 days and that is not even close to being enough time to get down to 15% body fat.

Being good or eating super low carb is crazy easy for me when I Don’t Eat Any Carbs lol While eating carbs, my addiction is only controllable for about 3-4 days before I start binging again. I try to reign it in by Monday but I can’t always do that. Next week I go back on keto (my daughter wants to). Im going to try not to gain 10 pounds in the meantime 😅😅💀

@CrashtestDawnie - I hope it goes well with your daughter and she has your 'relentless genes' :)
