Kego gal here: Sooo, back into deep ketosis this morning, and I was not dehydrated. I drank at least 3 glasses of water before I tested over 5 hours.

@adefwebserver kindly pointed out i have lost 10 pounds since November. This is good. It is slow, but I have never had such steady results. Keto keeps me from scarfing crap food like pizza. I am feeling better now too.

I think the new hormones I started in August and thyroid are helping. This week i MUST find a new doc so I can get a refill. I have cut back on the hormones so they last me the rest of the month. So far, I'm not hot flashing much. Dang, that really messes up sleep!

SOooooo... How do you all get 8 hours of sleep?
I go to bed at the same time almost every night. I fall asleep quickly. I usually wake up to go the bathroom even though I quit drinking a few hours before sleep. I also wake up every morning before my alarm. I get about 6 - 7 hours of sleep a night. I am tired in the afternoon. I would love to get more sleep.

Food update: I think it was the broccoli that kicked me out of ketosis. The almond/coconut milk seems to be a great sub for dairy/heavy cream. I ate almost the same carbs yesterday minus the broccoli. I will try broccoli another day to test it again.

This month I am giving up cream cheese and heavy cream to see if it will speed up my slow weight loss. Whoo hoo.

Keto on myfriends.

It is hard this age. And I don't think we can put too much pressure on ourselves. It is important to be healthy first and foremost. Interesting about the broccoli. One never knows. I accidently had sugar again yesterday (the coffee people got my order wrong AGAIN) and while I realized it quicky it just kicks me out of ketosis just like that. Some fasting will get me back

You doing great! I hear you about sleeping. We just seem to need less as we age. As for the afternoon sleepies, nothing wrong with a short rejuvenating nap! Many cultures do that. 15-30 mins can do wonders for you. 🤗

Sleep is a problem for me also. I still have hot flashes at age 77. I've read that 15% of women never have them and 15% have them for the rest of their lives. They wake me up regularly plus I have had bladder problems all my adult life, until the last 2 months. Intermittent Fasting seems to be slowly healing my bladder. Now, it comes to the part that is my fault: staying up too late. You are smart to go to bed at nearly the same time every night. I am sleep deprived and not sure I really ever get into REM sleep, between getting up and the hot flashes. It is getting somewhat better now, if I would just make myself go to bed at a reasonable time. Naps are good thing for me. You are doing good. I am heading into Keto, but haven't kept my carbs and protein low enough. The IF has been my saving grace, so I lost my weight that way, but I still want to do Keto.

I had surgical menopause, flashes for a few weeks and that was it. If you can nap in the afternoon, do it. You would be a lucky one to be able to. Your sleep does not have to be continuous, it just needs to be sufficient. As we age we need that sleep as much as anyone else does. They say that people who nap live longer— don’t know about that, but sounds good. I have never been able to nap, even as a kid. Wish I could.

Kenna I could never nap either 💤 I wish I could. Yup surgical menopause. I tried with no meds and my brain went to mush, crazy swinging hot flashes every other minute. And gained 50+ pounds. The meds (hrt bioidentical cream) saved my sanity.

Snow White, wow, I didn't know we could have them forever. I probably will. They are not completely gone even with hormones but much better. I'm far less inflamed on keto. After surgery, I could finally sleep through the night without getting up numerous times. I had bad fibroids. Try keto. You might do well on keto. Thanks for the info!

I chose not to take hormone replacement— did the research and decided it wasn’t for me. I did fine.

Kenna I too did the research and choose to di HRT. I wouldn't be able to support myself and function if I didn't.

Keep me posted on the broccoli I had cut vegetables way down to keep my carbs at 5%. I felt deprived so I have started eating them again. Carbs are around max 10%. DONT expect to lose much or be in high kenos but I am thrilled that I am under 200. I will more than likely stay at the same weight for a while. I tested my glucose again today and it was 82. That is the best thing since it hasn’t been below 108 in over 10 years. For once I can’t wait for my annual check up in May.

Jenjabba— I just decided to skip it and see how it went, but was prepared to take them if needed. J Use never had an issue.
