AmberLaine's Journal, 03 March 2019

Well. I'm back, with another long journey ahead of me. I am two weeks postpartum, and though pregnancy is not really an excuse, I certainly used it as one to eat whatever I wanted for the last 10 months. When I last weighed in (June 2018), I was already pregnant, though I didn't yet know it, and dealing with depression. I was a few months into maintenance and was struggling mentally and emotionally. My last weigh in was a gain. Pregnancy became a convenient excuse. First trimester fatigue heaped on top of it all meant that I basically stopped working out, and indeed I haven't worked out since Halloween. In all honesty, I expected my weight to be much worse. The scale reading was an almost pleasant surprise.
Tomorrow I am getting back on my eating plan. I am turning once again to Slow Carb, for multiple reasons. First, I had great success in the past. Second, it works fairly quickly, especially in the beginning - which will hopefully give me that boost of confidence I could really use. Third, I am breastfeeding, and a dramatic cut in calories is not something I can do right now. Slow Carb is not about cutting or even counting calories, so I feel it is a good fit for me right now.
I will not be cleared to workout for another 4 weeks, so I have time yet to decide what I shall do on that front. However, my husband returns to work tomorrow, so I will once again be walking my oldest to and from school every day again. Yay, movement. I will discuss this at greater length another time.
I always try to be honest here, which is why I'm saying all of this. I am embarrassed, but I am also ready.

You did a wonderful thing giving birth so do not be embarrassed. It is natural to carry some extra weight with that. Us women do store some fat and that is who we are. Slow carb sounds like a great plan. Good luck!!!!

It took me a year after I had my baby to get my head back in the game and decide I needed to be healthy. Then almost a whole another year to lose all the weight I wanted. My baby just turned 2, and I'm almost there. You can do it! :)

The reason of why i decided to work on myself/weight in the first place was my first born. He gave me the motivation to start, maybe you can find motivation by looking /thinking of your child as well 👶🏻

Solid plan. You know what works for you. All the advice in the world won't help you unless it is something you feel will work for you. You know what to do, and what is best for you. Good Luck!

Welcome back, old buddy. You can do it again--you're a FatSecret superstar! You're young, the weight has been on for less than a year, and you know how to make successful changes. This is totally doable. Congratulations on the new baby!

I’ve been where you are twice. My first I gained 150+. My second 70. Now I’m pregnant with my 3rd, approaching the 3rd month, and up 7 pounds. I’m scared of what I’m capable of with weight gain. But, I’ve been successful in losing that weight before so if I can do it, you can do it. Eat measured portions of whatever you’d like and make sure you have a substantial calorie deficit. Stay hydrated. Sleep sleep and sleep mama as much as you can! All of this will help melt those pounds off. Keep journaling. I’ll be waiting.

It's smart of you to stay away from sweets, all bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, and grains, to not spike your insulin on the Slow Carb. Those are the worst offenders to put the weight on, and stop it from coming off. You can ease into it, and are being wise about it. Congratulation on your little one.
