Snowwhite100's Journal, 28 February 2019

The leg pain from the pinched nerve in my back is getting better. In fact, over a period of about 6 days it has slowly improved about 50%. I am thrilled that I can walk better and when I step on it it usually feels like it will hold me. The other leg hurt upon waking this morning but calmed down when I was up and around. I will study if any exercises might help a pinched nerve. There is just no way to know about the future but I am encouraged for now. It still hurts to walk but it's wonderful that the pain is not quite as severe.
We drove to see my husbands sister (with terminal cancer) today. She was able to get up to visit with us and we sat out in the sunshine for a little while. Her husband had said we could stay 1/2 hour, but we were there for about an hour and 20 minutes, and it was a pleasant time together. It had been about 4 weeks since we went last time.
Eating window 12 hours, we needed to eat before we left this morning.

Glad things went well with your visit. Is your daughter still in town? I was thinking about you this morning! Hang in there, sister!

There is an exercise that might give you some relief. It helps me. I would google it, but I don't know what it is called. Lay on the floor, leave one leg straight out, draw the knee of the other leg up to your chin, count 15, Straighten that leg out, draw the other knee up to chin, count 15. Then draw both knees up to the chin and count 15. Rotate 3 times each. Move your bottom over to the couch, get as close as you can, flop your legs up over the couch. Lay there until your back relaxes and lays flat on the floor. I find this very helpful.

SnowyOne, I'm assuming that your "pinched nerve causing leg pain" is sciatica. Here are a couple of web sites with pictures and descriptions of stretches for sciatica (pinched nerve in the low back): https://health.facty.com/conditions/sciatica/8-exercises-for-sciatica/4/ https://www.healthline.com/health/back-pain/sciatic-stretches#be-safe And a link to "How to Ease Sciatica Without Surgery" that includes all kinds of strategies: https://www.healthline.com/health/how-ease-sciatica-without-surgery Feel better, my friend!

I found that leg stretches helped sciatica very effectively and quickly.

If you don’t already have one, find a good chiropractor. I am definitly a believer. You might also ask your MD for a physical therapy referral.
