FullaBella's Journal, 21 February 2019

Thursday - February 21st

Well, it’s official. I’m a fraud. My goal was to never step on the scale but last night I was clicking around the FS app and saw that calendar that does the math on food vs activity. I record my energy as sleeping 24 hours because I figure it can’t be any less than that especially with my 101 year old metabolism.

So I saw the calculation and it indicated I had a deficit equivalent to 12 pounds since I began recording in January. I was weak. For the good of science I dusted off the scale and tested the theory.

Now, I realize this won’t be absolute every month. It takes very little positive change to see results at this weight. Now I just need to find a way to hide that scale until the first of April. I feel a 30 day check in should be enough as long as I’m recording food and measuring other ways via how I feel and how clothes are fitting.

I’m quite content with this slower rate because it was never about the scale anyway. It was about the blood sugar. And not once can I recall a day in the past two months where I’ve felt hungry but restricted from doing anything about it or deprived from eating what I wanted.

Except cake. Sure, I miss cake. Well, I miss frosting. But I miss fruit more. And with the continued progress I’ll eventually be able to reintroduce those things back onto my grocery list.

Now you might get thrown out of the no scale club. (I may be the only one left in this club LOL) I will eventually step on a scale. It is nice to have a number as well once in a while. Congratulations with the loss. It is very nice. I eat small pieces of some items most days. Would not quite work with frosting though LOL

You know, I thought about you when I posted this. But how to you record 'a weight' here on FS without weighing? Are you guessing?

I weighed in once. About three weeks into my journey so that is my current number. Fatsecret insists on a number and when I do challenges it keeps rerecording it. Before that it had my old number from back when I was thinner. I felt too much of a fraud with that one. LOL

I was doing the same - repeatedly recording the last time I weighed at the doctors but I'll confess I was feeling... oh, I don't know, a self fabricated sense of peer pressure to show some progress and there aren't any NSV categories for posting things like 'dropped a size in clothes' or 'was able to bend over and release the car hood without opening the door' - things like that.

So maybe the 'we only weigh once a month' club will accept my application for membership :-)

LOL - Bells you crack me up. Keep doing what is working for you!!! I think you are right, though, FS needs to come up with a way to record the NSV's. Honestly, those are the real victories as we navigate along the way. Maybe...how do you ant to track your weight....the scale or clothing. Then let us select or 'check' where we are at. LOL! Sounds like a good opportunity to make some money if you can spin it off.

I hit enter before I was done. Still congratulations are in order!

Thanks Jaime. After only discovering that diary vs activity thing the other night I'm wondering if the NSV choices are there and I just haven't found them yet.

Absolutely, congratulations are in order. Good for you. I know I focus on the number way too much. I need to learn how not to do that. I will keep reading your posts and I'm sure to pick up some pointers. Thank you.

Thank you To145 - I feel a lot like that 'those who can, do' cliche. I have tons of information and experience on losing weight. I am trying to learn from those who lose it and keep it off.

You know, we talk about the fields for NSV - I just realized there is a field for 'height' - okay, I get over time we old ladies may shrink a bit but it's not that common as the recognizable NSV's .

THAT is wonderful my dear - now hide that darn thing and only pull it out out on April Fools Day!

I agree with you. I miss fruit most of all, but it's worth it. Later when I know my body is fat burning I think I can go on modified Keto and have a piece of fruit now and then. It feels so good to be relatively trim again, and my health is getting better. I believe I will keep up with the Intermittent Fasting the rest of my life for the health benefits. Keto and IF does work, I am amazed.

Thanks again everyone. Now I know the math won't always match the scale - I remember the illogical plateaus that happen and I'm expecting with the LCHF it will be much slower and more non scale measuring.
